New Moon in Leo 7/23

Happy Leo Season!

The Sun entered Leo this morning at 8.15am MST. The new moon in Leo is hot on its heels, taking place at 0 degrees tomorrow morning at 2.46am MST. With Mars in Leo two days ago and the north node camping out since May, we are starting to feel fired up!

Here’s a chart of this morning:

The moon in the last decan (10 degree chunk) of Cancer is closing in on the sun, and their conjunction is the New Moon. New moons are a time when the light of consciousness (Sun) has not yet shone on the subconscious mind (Moon). It’s the time to retreat, recover, and in a sense, step into the ‘darkness.’ What are our internal, reactive drives? How do we want to channel that energy over the development of the next moon cycle? Because we are more raw and primal, less conscious, this is a time to assess and listen to what comes up from within us. This is a time to plant seeds, while the full moon is the time to harvest the crop. At the full moon we will have more power to complete the intentions that we tune into and nurture now.

In the sign of Leo, this new moon is all about listening to your heart, which Leo rules. Creativity, passion, and amusements are all Leo keywords. Leo is kingly or personal power, as opposed to the people power of opposite sign Aquarius. That means that this new moon is about what ignites your heart, what lights you up personally. The fixed-fire sign, Leo is a magnetic concentration of what makes you happy. Where this new moon lands in your chart will tell you where to direct your interests and where you need to have fun and do what you want.

Under the Leo New Moon two years ago, I started this blog! I had an interest in astrology, and followed my heart. Since then, what had been my hobby has become a passion as well as a profession! It led me to the amazing team at The Golden Braid Bookstore in Salt Lake, where I’ve been doing astrology and tarot readings for over a year now. I planted a seed two years ago that has grown more than I ever could have anticipated.

This time is about getting in touch with yourself and the state of your happiness. Are you doing the things that fulfill your creative needs? What are you creating? Stay in touch with what comes up now, because your whims and passing fancies might be inviting you to play. Play is a vital part of human development, and it falls in the Leonine 5th House. When we play, we solve problems more easily. When we play, we open ourselves to the creative process.

Some interesting features of the chart above is the Grand Fire Trine between Aries Uranus, Mercury/North Node Leo, and Saturn Sagittarius. Grand Fire Trines are characterized by the ability under their influence to manifest spiritual drives into reality. What are those fiery passions that make your heart burn? These few weeks are a unique time where we have the vision and energy to complete those goals. Uranus gives energy and an independent, rebellious quality; we will not want to conform to anyone. Mercury conjunct the North Node makes this an important time to lay long-term plans; we will want to use communication to find the path to our happiness and creative fulfillment. Saturn gives us the gift and challenge of grounding our ideals; are our ideas sound, do we have a good philosophy behind our spiritual intention? We have energy and grounding right now, don’t let this possibly downright enjoyable time slip by without utilizing its power to employ positive changes.

Another element I find intriguing is the T-square of Gemini Venus, Sagittarius Saturn, and Pisces Neptune. The opposition of Venus and Saturn is a softening influence, there is a lot of attention on communication and how we speak the truth. Integrity is of paramount importance right now, it will be better to speak a harsher truth in favor of a smoother equivocation. Neptune’s influence attempts to dissolve borders, to sweep things back to the sea. Boundaries are important right now. We can connect to spirit more now by being honest about the demands of the mundane.

Thank you so much for reading, and for all the support I’ve received over the last two years! This new moon has me plotting and planning over the future, and I’m working on bringing lots more original content. Check me out on Facebook and my lil’ baby YouTube channel, and also check out our awesome Golden Braid team. If you like what you see, please don’t hesitate to share with your people:)

Cheers,

Full Moon in Capricorn 7/8

Hey hey hey,

It’s that time again. The Capricorn full moon (or Buck Moon or Thunder moon) takes place tonight, July 8, at 9:07 pm MST. It’s going to shine at 17° Capricorn, in conjunction with Pluto at 16.

The moon represents our intuitive, feeling nature, the internal world, and the subconscious. When the moon is all lit up by the light of the sun/consciousness, we become energized! Full moons are the time to take action. We are aware of what is going on inside, and can harvest the seeds that were planted during the previous new moon. The previous new moon in Cancer had to do with our deepest emotions, our homes and private lives. This full moon completes the intentions set at that time, and we do it in a Capricorn/public/10th House way. What public tactics are we taking to accomplish private objectives right now? Is there something we need to share openly to fulfill personal desires?

This full moon is all about what we are long-term cultivating in our lives. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, which has to do with time and longevity. Cap wants to build and leave a legacy. Its association with the 10th Astrological House gives its natives a strong focus on reputation and public image. During this full moon, we will be very aware of plans made long ago, and whether or not we have followed the plans we set. Actions will be taken to adjust course during this time. Are we on target? Have we hit all of our markers? Did those seeds planted a while back come to bear fruit or what? Saturn’s influence on Capricorn also gives boundaries and restriction to the never-ending expanse of the previous sign of Sagittarius. Capricorn is where we learn to materialize the big ideas of Sagittarius through learning hard lessons and gaining practical experience. This full moon should be a productive time, in any case we’ll be aware of obligations and trials.

And now for the drama! Pluto is conjunct this full moon in Capricorn, and that means everything is intensified. It is the planet of transformation and generational shifts. Deep power struggles and challenges with authority are a hallmark of Pluto’s influence, and this full moon can bring those kinds of events to the forefront. What was working for us in our careers or life paths might be changing now. What used to be “that’s just how it is” is really getting scrutinized under this energy. Our overall goals for ourselves, and our collective objectives as well, are going through a death and rebirth process that is a response to the generation previous. This full moon should make us very aware of the ways our lives are changing. It’s like we suddenly have this crazy big-picture focus for awhile. Use it! We might not be so prescient at other times.

Bottom line is this is the full moon to make it happen! We might feel a bit watered down since Mars is conjunct Sun, opposite the new Moon conjunct Pluto in Cap. But we will be ready to do what we need to do to make sure we are on the track we want to be on.

Good news is Capricorns are pretty freaky, so in the midst of all this major life-planning, grab a drink and get you some booty. Have fun and go get em!

Cheers,

Will
