Full Moon In Taurus 11/19 and Eclipses!

Hello,

The Full Moon In Taurus is exact at 1.57am MST, with a 2.03am exact Partial Lunar Eclipse, at 27 Taurus. This is the height of activity for intentions set at the New Moon In Scorpio on 11/4, and winding down at the next New Moon In Sagittarius on 12/4.

Taurus is the sign of value and possessions. Self-esteem, how we value ourselves. And also as the first earth sign, it signifies what we do. What actions we take and what we create. Taurus’ fertile earth energy brings blossoms and Venus-ruled grace where it lands in the birth chart.

During this lunation we will be conscious of worth. Have the changes we’ve been making add value to what we’re trying to do? I think also as a part of the Scorpio New Moon cycle, this time will make us think about what we ourselves are bringing to the table. What is OUR worth? Are we fulfilling that and bringing it to the table?

I think this time will also highlight the various strikes and wage situations going on right now. Am I being paid what I’m worth?

This full moon will also be the first eclipse in Taurus and Scorpio that will last through Summer 2023. They have been along Gemini and Sagittarius since the beginning of 2020, but now the north node is shifting and will be from Gemini into Taurus on 1/18/22. That means that the energy we’re carrying through this Full Moon In Taurus cycle will reverberate through the next six months to a year.

What do you want to build that wasn’t there before? You couldn’t build this new thing if that old structure was still standing.

Cheers,

Will

Full Moon in Capricorn 7/16

Hello,

Of course I claim Mercury Retrograde Probs in posting two days late, but the Full Moon in Capricorn on Tuesday was also a lunar eclipse which lit up – or dimmed – 24° ♑ . I took an astro.com chart of the moment around 2pm MDT, which shows that the moon and eclipse were not visible from here in UT (🌕 symbol at bottom of chart next to ‘IC’).

Full moons are typically time to take action, where we are energized by the conscious solar light shining on the subconscious of the moon. The New Moon in Cancer, which was also the total solar eclipse at 10° ♋, would have given impulse to the things requiring our attention now. The axis of Cancer/ Capricorn finds us navigating our inner and public workings.

Capricorn’s keyword is responsibility. Ruled by stern Saturn, it is the sign of longevity. Capricorn must always improve over time, like its animal totem sea-goat climbing from the bottom of the sea to the top of the mountain. It is the cardinal third earth sign, giving initiative to lasting effect through hard work. Capricorn is organized and strategic, and uses limitations not as hindrances but rather as stepping stones. Its association with the astrological 10th house also influences public roles in life as well as career aspirations and overall lifeplan.

The Full Moon in Capricorn is shining in conjunction with ruler Saturn as well as Pluto. Our attention will be drawn to responsibilities we must face, ones that will have Saturn long-lasting impact as well as Pluto disruption and transformation. There’s something very “Hanged Man” from the Tarot about this energy to me- you gotta do what you gotta do, but make sure this new perspective is leveling you up. That strong Saturn energy might make you feel trapped, but there is something you need to learn about this. In a practical sense, you might find yourself on a tighter budget than you’re used to, but you have to learn how to handle it by doing it.

In the public sense there are a number of things that are slowly reaching a boiling point. Regardless of your views, no one is immune from the pressure and churning dissatisfaction. The timing of certain comments made last weekend by certain megalomaniacs are amplifying the intensity of the conjunction of Saturn/Pluto/Full Moon. There doesn’t seem to be a respite as we all will be forced to deal with the fallout. The crisis of the North Node in Cancer lies directly opposite this full moon as well. America is being forced to self-identify and the process is painful at best. Hopefully the tension that this activates will encourage us all to do our part and make collective changes. We need to move into a mode of feeling everything personally, deeply. We cannot separate ourselves from the plight of others. We need to embody nurturing, empathetic Cancerian energy.

Adding to the melee is the Full Moon in opposition to Mercury Retrograde. You might not be observing as much progress as you’d like, keep chipping away at it. The Cap Full Moon likes to get things done, but it seems like your efforts are thwarted. Rather than take in the whole big picture at once, break it down into manageable pieces. You’ll be pleased if you can see your efforts through to the end. This Retrograde energy also has the potential to see communication colored by power struggles. Through the end of the month it’ll help to speak from the heart without forcing your hand. It’ll be easy to push too hard. Help people realize that you are on their team.

If you can use your limitations constructively, this time can be of great use. Keep your eyes on the prize, and get yourself ready to win it.

Cheers,

Will

It’s Super, It’s Blue, It’s Blood-It’s the Full Moon in Leo 1/31

Hey ho,

So let’s just jump right into the hype! It happens Wednesday, January 31 at 6.27-6.30ish AM MST. This rare series of events with this moon hasn’t been seen for 150 years. But what does it mean?

SUPER-This means that the moon is in its perigee, the time in its orbit that it’s closest to the earth. It will appear slightly larger than at other times, and this happens for about three of the twelve yearly moon cycles.

BLUE-This means that two full moons happen in the same calendar month. The previous full moon was in Cancer on New Year’s. It doesn’t turn blue. Actually…

BLOOD-This is the part where the eclipse comes into play. Since the earth will pass between the sun and moon, it’s shadow will fall over the moon at this time it would normally appear full. It’s ‘blood’-like qualities have to do with only certain wavelengths of color hitting the moon as it passes through the earth’s umbra (full shadow). It’ll be dark, but not like a new moon, and I’m thinking rusty-colored. Hence, blood. The eclipse makes it dark.

So! The moon is closer to the earth-just as it pulls on the tides, it has greater sway on our emotions. Two full moons this month means that a lot of stuff is going on-busy busy busy! And the eclipse energy brings us back to the dark-the subconscious, the primal, the reactive, instinctual nature. Whereas the full moon usually shines a light inside, now we are invited to take all that energy inward.

The significance of eclipses comes in the area of your chart it occurs. Where this takes place will stimulate changes, either through a crisis which causes response or a reevaluation as subconscious thoughts come to the top. Solar eclipses last six months to a year, and lunar eclipses three to six months. They are good markers for times of change in your life, I think of them as a doorway you walk through and evaluate on the other side. (Get in touch to get a reading!)

A full moon is the time to reap the harvest of what has been grown and developed since the the seeds were planted during the previous new moon (in the link I also mention the New Year Cancer Full Moon). In this case, it has to do with how we are developing our legacy. What are we doing to playfully create the path before us?

The eclipses are connected cyclically with the moon’s nodes, and I spoke about this year’s passage of the north node through Leo here. Because this full moon and eclipse take place at 11° Leo, conjunct the north node at 14° Leo, this will be a critical stepping stone during this year of self-empowerment and discovery. Are we really having fun doing this risk-taking and reevaluating stimulated by the solar eclipse at 28° Leo last summer? We might not necessarily feel like the Lion roaring, the energy of this eclipse might feel like foreign territory. We might have to take leaps without a net. The north node is what we don’t know, what we have to develop. But it’s what we need to learn right now. And truly, your heart, your deepest, most personal knowing place will tell you the right answers. Let your light shine, because the dark is calling. This is where we learn what our roaring means.

Remember that eclipses happen pretty much twice a year-since January last year they’ve been in Leo/Aquarius. This means that these eclipses are stimulating changes in the ways that we step into personal power and creativity (Leo) and how that relates to our networks and humanity at large – people power (Aquarius). I would say the US where I live has been seeing that in many ways-how do I relate to what’s going on with everyone else right now? Do I see myself as separate from ‘them?’ This summer they will start shifting into Cancer and Capricorn-which means next time it’s personal AND it’s business.

Shawn that I work with at the Golden Braid Bookstore says that eclipses are always positive events. And I dig that a lot. Make sure you are making the time to do what you love, and that it is in line with your overall plans. If you’re not having fun, this is the time to acknowledge it and drop it. And since this rare occurrence happens in the dramastic sign of Leo, always get ready for some drama fantastique!

Cheers,

Will

p.s. used my ephemeris to put this together!

Full Moon in Aquarius and Lunar Eclipse 8/7

Hey hey hey,

This upcoming full moon in Aquarius sets off the fall eclipse season. It won’t be visible here in SLC because the moon will have set and it will be daytime, but you can check here for lunar eclipse visibility. The full moon will take place at 15 degrees Aquarius on Monday, August 7 at 12:10pm MST, and the partial lunar eclipse will be exact at 12:21pm MST.

The Aquarius full moon (or the Sturgeon Moon or Green Corn Moon) is the natural development of intentions set during the previous new moon in Leo. Heart-level goals were the focus a few weeks ago, and this full moon shares and realizes those goals with those groups of people with which you identify. Long story short, it’s the time to put the focus on sharing your individuality with others. Aquarius is people-power, and an aspect of the sign I think is often overlooked is how your unique energy fits in with others. It’s not just the general Other People, but specifically Your People-and WHY they are your people. How do we fit in to the network that frames our lives? Not just what other people do for us, but conversely, what do we do for them? No man is an island, and this is an important time to open yourself up to others, to possibly meet new people you wouldn’t have the chance to before, and explore your identity within group dynamics.

Aquarius is also the sign of wishes and dreams, through it’s association with the 11th House. This should be an active time of getting out of your own bubble and going to see what’s going on in those other bubbles. Connecting with others is the name of the game now.

As far as the eclipse is concerned, it is a partial rather than total eclipse, so it won’t be as powerful as a total lunar or solar eclipse. It does, however, trigger events in motion that last til the next eclipse season in the spring. I think of them as a portal or doorway. The invitation is there for you to refocus and rejuvenate under a new kind of energy. As lunar eclipses always happen on a full moon, that burst of energy we usually feel while howling at a full moon goes subconscious and becomes internalized. This again has to do with Aquarius energy, how we relate and connect to others. This will last until the spring (we also have a total eclipse in Leo coming up toward the end of the month, and that will be an amazing time to settle into your own amazing creative fertility!).

There are also some amazing things happening in the sky at the time of the full moon eclipse, and they will carry through energetically til the next eclipse cycle:

  • MYSTIC RECTANGLE-a relatively rare astrological pattern consisting of two trines (harmonious flow of energy) and two sextiles (blossoming potentials energy). This formation has already begun as I write this on Saturday. The planets involved are Venus in Cancer sextile Mercury in Virgo trine Pluto in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces, trine Venus in Cancer. (Check out the photo of today’s chart for a visual.) This particular gives me the impression that our feelings are in line with our communication, because we are recognizing how we are changing in the world and somehow coming to terms with our own spirituality. Long story short, we will have an understanding of our emotions, and how to accomplish tangible goals due to the insight the emotions provide. It also might be a time where we feel really pleasantly and choose to kick back and enjoy it. The amount of things that get done will depend on you, you’ll have these energies at your disposal.
  • MINOR GRAND TRINE-a more common pattern consisting of a planet creating a sextile between two planets that are trine. These planets are the Sun/North Node/Mars in Leo trine Saturn in Sagittarius and Jupiter in Libra sextile both. This formation signals creativity and growth, especially with the planet sextiling the trine. This is a massively positive energy to carry through eclipse season. The conjunction of Sun/North Node/Mars is making us aware of the mile markers on our life path and pressing us to be as creative and have as much fun as possible. This is trine Saturn, which is trials and tests. This means that this period of time gives us a solid foundation and understanding of our limits, but we will be in tune with it. We will understand that our trials are helping us get to where we want to go. And the sextile with Jupiter to both, from within the sign of Libra, means that our personal relationships will blossom and foster the growth of our creativity and our philosophical development.

This upcoming eclipse season will be an eye-opener! And our eyes will be on what we can create and share with others. There is some relief and new inspiration if we know where to look-in the microcosms of universes of the people around us.

Cheers!

Will
