Mercury Retrograde in Aries 3/22-4/15

It is ye olde timme again.

That special time that only comes three or four times a year!

That’s right, we’re creeping up on Mercury Retrograde (dun dun DUUUUUN!). It starts TONIGHT at 6.17pm MST.

Mercury is the ruler of the signs of Gemini and Virgo, both mutable in quality, as this planet has to do with communication, intellect, and integration. It’s like the corpus callosum in the brain, connecting the two hemispheres into one unit. Most planets have a male or female quality associated with them (Venus is female, Mars is male, etc.), but Mercury is both and neither- it moves between them. It’s language and hearing and listening.

Retrograde motions happen when a planet seems to slow down to a stop in the sky, then go backwards for a while, stop and move forward again. The planet is not changing direction, but rather its orbit relative to the earth makes it look that way from where we are. This means that the retrograde planet appears to cover the same area of the sky three times-first in the shadow zone (this one began on March 9), then in the retrograde phase (tonight through April 15), and a third time as it exits the shadow zone and breaks into new territory (May 3). While the retrograde phase is interpreted as the most disruptive, themes that fall within the shadow zone or total retrograde transit will be revisited three times. When retrogrades occur, we are actually closer to that planet’s orbit than at other times so astrologically it tends to make that energy more personal and internalized.

When Mercury goes retrograde, anything having to do with communication seems to go haywire. Emails and texts get wonky. Conversations can be misinterpreted more easily. Even your steady train service or daily commute might have some hiccups. Traditional advice for these periods includes not signing contracts, beginning or ending a serious relationship, or making major life changes. This is because you are likely to change your mind later, after you have reevaluated your thinking. Impressions are impermanent during Mercury Retrograde.

In the sign of Aries, Mercury is reflecting on Identity. Aries’ motto is I AM. It’s the first sign of the zodiac, and where it falls in your chart is where you want to be a strong and independent leader. Aries are very pioneering, and they burn hot like the Cardinal (initiative or outgoing) fire (spiritual energy) signs they are. Aries rules the head, and like the ram, they knock down obstacles head-on. In the wheel of the zodiac Aries lines up with the astrological First House, which represents birth, the body, and the Self. Mercury is the intellect and how we think and speak, so we might be a little bit self-involved during this time-which is exactly for what the retrograde calls. I think we’ll really be looking at things and thinking, “Is this Me?” during this retrograde. We might have to define what is, in fact, Me. If only to ourselves.

With Saturn and Pluto bringing serious depth and change to the social stage in Capricorn, a lot of this Mercury Rx self-exploration might be because we are experiencing dissonance between what we feel personally and what is going on around us. Things that are going on in the world should make you reevaluate your own position, and a retrograde like this is a great time to change your mind. Because it seems you are being forced to, from all sides. Aries and Capricorn are square to each other, an aspect of tension that expresses through attention to urgent matters.

However, sociopersonal identity crises aside, the very nice thing about this retrograde to me is that it doesn’t seem to actually involve others much. It’s not about examining your relationships, work, or outside social influences. It falls solely in the sign of the Self. As Mercury goes retro tonight, it’s still in conjunction with Venus, which softens and gives grace. So we are actually quite likely to feel good about ourselves, which might be counter-intuitive to everyone who hears me blame everything on Mercury Retrograde ad nauseum (and it might make us lazy with aforementioned social influences, like “I-feel-good-about-me-it’s-thems-who-need-to-change”). This retrograde is harmoniously trine to the North Node in Leo (Part I and Part II), which means that we will be checking in with our overall spiritual goals and development during this time. At the end of March, the Moon will be full in Libra (second Blue Moon since January-real busy year), so you might get some fireworks from others around then but I say just grab some popcorn and watch.

In short, this retrograde will make you examine if what you are doing is in line with who you actually are. You might feel like making big changes, but see what you feel like doing in a couple weeks, too. It might be different by then.

Cheers,

Will

Merry Jolly Mercury RxMas in Sagittarius 12/3-12/23

Hey hey hey,

It’s that special time of year-it only comes but twice or thrice! It’s not XMas, it’s Mercury RxMas! That’s right, Mercury is now retrograde in the sign of Sagittarius and will go direct again right before the darkest nights of the year as we shift into the winter sign of Capricorn.

This year’s earlier retrogrades went from earth-sign Taurus to fire-sign Aries (which I didn’t write about, apparently lolz), and from earth-sign Virgo to fire-sign Leo. Cusps between fire and earth sign represent how the desire becomes manifest, how the intention becomes an action. This year has made us reevaluate how we are doing things, and the reasons behind the things we are doing-mostly as individuals, as the first six signs represent personal development in the zodiac. This particular holiday retrograde is a lot more heady-and much more global.

QUICK OVERVIEW DATES:
-Mercury enters shadow zone, 13 degrees Sag 11/14
-Mercury stations retrograde, 29 degrees Sag 12/3
-Mercury stations direct, 13 degrees Sag 12/23
-Mercury exits shadow zone, 29 degrees Sag 1/11/2018

Sagittarius is the mutable-fire sign. Fire represents spiritual energy, passion and drive. Mutable signs can, the depending on the situation, call upon the cardinal (using energy) or fixed (saving energy) qualities of the previous two signs. In this case, Sagittarius becomes a mix of Libra and Scorpio energies. It is the place where we come out of the dark and have to examine what we have brought with us. We have to hold it up to the light and scrutinize it. Sagittarius represents philosophy, religion, higher learning, foreign countries and borders, the ‘outside world’ relative to the self. The sign is ruled by the great benefic, Jupiter, which represents justice, high-minded ideals, and expansiveness.

Mercury is the planet which is neither a male or female energy, but like the corpus collosum in your mind-grapes, connects both spheres and facilitates communication. It’s retrograde motion during this time is caused by our relative orbit. It doesn’t actually change directions, but it looks like it does if you are following it in the sky. This apparent  movement symbolizes a time where communication becomes “backed up.” Things aren’t moving forward, there becomes something that needs to be cleared up. Traditional advice for Mercury Rx is not to sign contracts, make long-term plans, stay in your house, be a hermit, lol. The reason being that after a while, your thinking (Mercury) will change and you will have moved on to something else. I think Mercury Rx is a good time to reflect on the past couple weeks and themes that have come up during those times. Mercury ends up covering the same part of the sky THREE times during a retrograde phase. Something has to be examined.

In the sign of Sagittarius, this retrograde passes over Saturn three times as well, emphasizing lessons here since Saturn entered the sign late summer 2015. I think as a whole, we have learned some dark things about ourselves and are still examining what we have found. This time is a good time to collect our wits and get ourselves together. I’m speaking in the royal ‘we’ because Sagittarius is on the top/south of the chart, meaning it’s about not just the self or the other but as it shifts into the sign of Capricorn, the People. This retrograde is about ideas, not necessarily actions, the moral and spiritual over the mundane. WHY are we doing what WE are doing? Why are WE doing what we are DOING?

Mercury will station direct right at the same time as the Sun (Consciousness/Self) and the dark sun, Saturn (Lessons/Restrictions) enter the sign of Capricorn. Mercury itself will join them in Capricorn in January 2018, but this time symbolizes the beliefs, ideas, and philosophies that create the expressions, actions, and policies we experience collectively. Like putting a clay pot in a kiln, the shift from a fire-sign to an earth-sign means that our ideas will soon become actions, our intentions will soon be made manifest. This Mercury Rx is about looking outward from the self, and collectively deciding what we believe our action will be. Sagittarius’ motto is “I see,” and by the end, we truly will.

This Saturn in Capricorn is looking to be a doozy! Get ready for it now.

Merry Jolly Mercury RxMas!

XoXoXo,
Will

Eclipse Reflections while Mercury Stations Direct

Hey hey hey,

Early this morning, Mercury stopped retrograding and stationed direct. That means it slowed down and will appear to be at the same point in the sky until it moves from 28 to 29 degrees of Leo. Mercury is the planet of intellect and expression and when it retrogrades, communication gets wonky. As I mentioned, it backed up exactly to the point where the Solar Eclipse took place on August 21 and will stay there til this Friday, September 8. This means we will be processing the information and changes sparked by the eclipse, that had been building up since Mercury started this process by passing over 28 degrees Leo on July 25.

First of all, the eclipse was the second new moon in Leo this year! For me what this says is that whatever was trying to spark on a personal, creative, playful heart level was trying to really get the fire going. New moons are when the sun and moon are in the same place in the sky, and the metaphorical joining of the masculine and feminine. It represents a birth, giving a new impulse through the next moon cycle until the sun and moon join again. This year’s rare total solar eclipse was a new moon that was a beginning for not only this next month, but a seed planted for the next six months to a year. Meaning that a big part of this next year (which also follows the north node in Leo…more on that later:) is about having fun and taking festive risks, following heart-level impulses and actively pursuing happiness.

So the idea is to gather your wits and process the eclipse through this next week until the 8th, when things will be moving forward with more ease. Mercury moves into its home sign of Virgo again on September 9, and all the details of our big new Leo heart-level dreams won’t seem so overwhelming. It will exit the shadow zone (the place it started to retrograde in the first place) at 11 degrees Virgo around September 20 and we will then feel more or less resolved and able to move into new territory. This will be a great month to start making little tasks out of big plans, making lists, shopping around, comparing notes and getting all the nitty gritty handled. These little things you do now will actually be big helps to you later, even if it seems trifling or nitpicky at the time.

Total eclipses bring big changes, usually by expressing as a crisis or moment of extreme attention in an area of your life. Now that Mercury Retrograde is over, I am going to quickly break down where this eclipse might have sparked a new torch in your longing heart (if you know your rising sign:):

  • 1st House (likely Leo Rising): This year is a whole new you! The first house represents the self, and you are probably feeling a burst of energy from within yourself. Trust yourself, trust your heart. The crisis of eclipse might be manifesting as an identity crisis. Maybe who you were isn’t who you feel like now. Get in touch with yourself! You have a spotlight on you now, step into it.
  • 2nd House (likely Cancer Rising): This year is all about new fortunes! The second house represents our value system, and as an earth-aligned house represents health and wealth. Spend this year creating, and be sure of your own worth. The crisis of this eclipse might come through as something related to income, or even as depression/feelings of worthlessness. Use the eclipse energy to flip the script!
  • 3rd House (likely Gemini Rising): This year is all about information! The third house represents communication, and that means you’ll likely be meeting and talking with a lot of new people. Put yourself out there, and bring people into your circle. The eclipse crisis comes to you through overload, so don’t hurt yourself. Make sure you’re taking the time to make conscious choices in the madness.
  • 4th House (likely Taurus rising): This year gives a new depth to your soul! The fourth house represents the inner world as well as home environment, meaning that you might be moving sometime in the next year. The eclipse is shining its crisis from deep within you, and you might only now be aware of its subconscious power. You will want to see these inner changes reflected in the place that you live.
  • 5th House (likely Aries Rising): This year is all about your heart’s journey. The fifth house represents creativity, pleasure, and personal authority. Wherever your heart pulls you this year, you are likely to have a blast doing it! The eclipse might bring this to your attention by asking you if your heart is really what you are doing. If not, now is the time to find and follow that spark to ignite it.
  • 6th House (likely Pisces Rising): This year is all about how you are getting it done. The sixth house represents the body, work, and habits/routines which means you might be finding new employment! You will want to work smarter and not harder. This eclipse placement might bring a health crisis, so pay attention to detail and take care of yourself first. Making lists, check ’em twice. Quit smoking!
  • 7th House (likely Aquarius Rising): This year is all about the people in your life. The seventh house represents the Other, so the focus won’t be so much on you. Trust others. You’re likely feeling a new surge of energy in your personal relationships, which might be put to the test with this eclipse placement. It’s important to be aware not only of what you give of yourself, but what you receive from others.
  • 8th House (likely Capricorn Rising): This year is all about deep transformation. The eighth house represents shared values and regenerative cycles. This eclipse placement suggests a crisis related to letting go of your old self and becoming something new. You should collaborate deeply with others, and might even possibly gain through offering your support. You won’t recognize yourself after this.
  • 9th House (likely Sagittarius Rising): This year is a new awakening for you. The ninth house represents higher learning, philosophy, religion, as well as travel and foreign places. You will feel a fiery passion to follow your highest truth. Your crisis in this placement might be of faith-make sure you are living according to your own ideals. This year you might also feel the travel bug acutely-hop to!
  • 10th House (likely Scorpio Rising): This year is all about your long-term goals. The tenth house represents public life as well as the course of your life’s events. You will be very aware of your reputation at this time, and will take cares with your legacy. The eclipse here might express through a change in careers or even social status. Use this new energy impulse to turn things around-it’s your life, after all!
  • 11th House (likely Libra Rising): This year is all about a bigger perspective. The eleventh house represents social connection and how we fit into groups. This is your time to shine within your networks. Your eclipse crisis might express through feeling alienated from your social scene, or possibly finding new ones. Hopes and dreams also live here, so use the eclipse energy to lead you to your bright future.
  • 12th House (likely Virgo Rising): This year is all about letting go and connecting to spirit. The twelfth house represents the subconscious, hidden sorrows and enemies, as well as institutions. It may feel like you have to give yourself up for a little while, but if you offer the service freely you will reap the spiritual rewards. Use the energizing eclipse energy to tap directly into Spirit-the channels are open to you.

New Moon in Gemini 5/25

Hey hey,

So the new moon was just a little while ago at 12.44pm MST, and for us in SLC it was directly on the Midheaven or directly overhead (giving public/10th House importance to the moon energy).

New moon is the time to rest and recharge, to plant seeds and make plans. In the air sign of Gemini, the focus is on communication. We have to think about new ways of expressing ideas. Words used unconsciously during this time will become a stumbling block later on, but since the moon is in its dark phase and not yet illuminated by the light of Sun-consciousness, we might do it impulsively. However, words used with clear intent now can be a bulldozer to clear that block as you go.

The ruler of New Moon Gemini is Mercury, which will be in the sign of Taurus thru June 6. This earth sign is all about creation. It’s about value, how we perceive it in relation to ourselves and our own possessions. Taurus is measured and methodical, and can seem almost languid compared to other, more high energy signs. Nevertheless, they always Tortoise and the Hare everybody by winning it with their steady approach. These qualities will be how communication flows during this moon cycle. Sometimes agonizingly slow and stubborn, but always focused on what is growing and the potential for new life.

We might also be gathering a lot of idea maps now, with all the ideas swirling around, he said, switching metaphors abruptly. The next full moon is in Sagittarius and is all about following your own path to Truth. Now would be the time to talk it out, make sure you really believe what you think you’re saying. You might have to back up your ideas later.

Some interesting things about this new moon is first, that it’s square to Neptune in Pisces. I think during this moon cycle, we will be wont to seek a definition rather than let a thing remain implied. Words will be necessary, even when it feels like trying to hold water in your hands. We won’t feel comfortable with blurring edges, we’ll tend to crave boundaries.

Second, there are two relatively short-lived yet major oppositions happening, sparked off by the new moon vibezzz. The first of which is on the Venus-Aries/Jupiter-Libra axis, which has been getting a lot of attention this year. Aries is the Self-so Venus there is getting us to really love our own dayum self and to go get ours, while Libra is the Other-so Jupiter there is expanding our awareness of our relationships. This opposition can be tough EVEN IF it’s both of the generally ‘benefic’ planets, showering blessings. Are we letting other people’s needs outweigh our own? Are we selfishly indulging our own interests and not considering the needs of others at all? This opposition during New Moon Gemini creates an awareness of these themes through crisis, or a situation that seems to pull you in different directions.

The other opposition is that of the malefic’ planets of Mars-Gemini and Saturn-Sagittarius. Mars is drive in the realm of communication (it’s very likely, and for me definitely true that our mouths have been RUNNING OFF). Other people are necessary for true communication to happen, yet Saturn’s over there grounding our asses in the sign of higher learning and personal truth. There’s a pull between speaking your truth and following your truth. Maybe you need to say some things on your path to Truth but you find it hard. Time to spit ’em out, because by the time the full moon happens you might not have as many options about it.

Lots of interesting stuff always happening in the sky. The long-standing T-square has eased off, so that a bit of a relief.

Thanks for reading! If you’d like to hear more about a particular topic, please use New Moon Gemini to lmk, ok?

Cheers,

Will

New Moon in Aquarius 1/27

Hi y’all,

The new moon lands at 8 degrees Aquarius tonight at 5.07pm MST. The new moon is the conjunction of the Sun and Moon, meaning they are both at the same point. The moon is in the Earth’s shadow and is dark for a few days. This symbolizes that the emotional/subconscious nature is in shadow, not yet illuminated by the conscious light of the Sun. It means we have a more primal energy, a more raw state that gives birth to a new energy, culminating with the full moon in Leo on February 10.

Aquarius is all about connection to the collective. How we maintain individuality and yet identify with groups of people. If it’s opposite sign of Leo is all about personal power and creativity, Aquarius is about people power and dreaming. Leo is ruled by our close-up star, the Sun. Aquarius is the far-off star, associated with clairvoyancy and vision. Traditionally ruled by Saturn, in modern astrology ruled by Uranus, Aquarius breaks the mold. It’s like the concept of genetic variance. If a gene pool is too shallow, it’s not good for the population. Aquarius comes in and gives us the alterations we need to keep the line moving into the future. The farsight of the Aquarian nature is ahead of its time. They have their finger on the future pulse, with their far-out knowledge directly sourced from somewhere else in the universe. Aliens, maybe? Who knows.

This moon cycle will have us thinking about how we fit into the collective. Over the next couple of days, it’s better to lay low and make plans to be carried out around the full moon. Are we contributing to what’s going on around us, or are we separate from it? Are we fulfilled in the roles we have in group settings? Are we happy with the identity we’ve cultivated within those roles? The seeds are being planted now.

A couple of things going on in the sky right now that activate this energy in different ways. First, the T-square of Uranus in Aries square Pluto/Mercury in Capricorn square Jupiter in Libra is still going strong. Election fallout, maybe? We are still actively engaged in transforming the public world we live in, and as these planets are generally very slow moving, we’ll be figuring it out for awhile. We are expanding relationships while totally rebelling against the self-image that has been brought into focus recently. Surprisingly, Saturn’s placement in Sagittarius right now is offering relief to this T-square. This means that having a solid, grounded understanding of the philosophies that rule your life can provide relief to the attention/stress caused by the T-square. After the last couple months, Saturn and it’s sextile to Jupiter in Libra is encouraging us to remain calm in the storm, reminding that Saturn lessons are hard but ultimately here for our growth.

Luckily! Mercury exits the shadow zone of the Retrograde in Capricorn today (think I listed it as leaving on the 29th, but that’s wrong). There’s been a LOT of Big-Picture Life Planning going on, everyone has had an intense drive to figure out long term goals over the last month. Well, starting today we get to move forward on a lot of the issues we’ve been dealing with, breaking into new territory after what seems like months of rigamarole. Mercury will be passing over Pluto again in a few days, and we’ll have more chances to transform and meet our struggles with power through communication. The difference now is that we will be able to move on rather than be stuck in a quagmire. Go get em!

In the next week or so, both Venus and Mars will be moving from the sign of Pisces to the sign of Aries. This indicates to me that we’ve been in a bit of a dream state, feeling unusually immersed in our subconscious/dreamstate. When they are both fired up in Aries, I expect we’ll feel more into ourselves. It will definitely increase aggression, in terms of objectives, knowing what you want and how to get it. These planets in Aries could also have us feeling more ‘selfish.’ Which is fine, unless you forget the interests of others while you’re getting yours. And when I say get yours, I mean get ready for some sensual times. I’ll write more about both of these events, including the upcoming Venus Retrograde. So! We’ve been all up in our dreamy selves, serving others, connecting to the universe. Now we’ll be connecting with our own damn selves.

Use the energy of this moon cycle to recharge your group energy. Friends, contacts, networks are all of tantamount importance at this time. Many times, we define ourselves through our interactions with others. This Aquarius energy emphasizes that. No man is an island, and we’ll be very aware of that now. Aquarius is also the sign of hopes and dreams, so now is the time to plant as many seeds as possible. How are you fertilizing these seeds? How are you cultivating each step toward your goals? Are you taking action every day to reach that far-off star? Any actions in that direction will take you far.

Cheers!

Will

Mercury Retrograde 12/19-1/8

Hi everyone!

We’re already a couple of days deep into the latest Mercury Retrograde! It stationed retro on Monday, Dec. 19 at 15 degrees of Capricorn,  and will go until stationing direct at 28 degrees of Sagittarius on January 8 of next year. Here’s a quick list of dates pertinent to this Rx:

  • Mercury in Shadow Zone (thru area that Retrograde backs up to): 12/2-1219
  • Mercury Retrograde from 15 Cap to 28 Sag (backing up): 12/19-1/8
  • Mercury in Shadow Zone (once more thru the same area): 1/8-1/29

A retrograde is a time when a planet seems to slow down and stop, then proceed backward for a time. The planets don’t really change direction, of course, it’s all an optical illusion based on the Earth’s rotation and orbit around the sun. Mercury, the fastest moving planet, goes retro about three or four times a year. When a planet goes retrograde, it’s generally the thought that the energy expression of the planet goes inward. So for Mercury, the planet of intellect, communication, and expression, it kind of gums up the works. ‘They’ say not to sign contracts or make major life decisions during this time, because in general, we’re not ‘thinking straight.’ Arguments and disagreements might pop up a lot during this time, but if we are aware of the energy, we can choose a different outcome.

This Mercury Retrograde is very similar to the short one we experienced in January, which I described here: Mercury Rx in Cap January 2016.  I think this retrograde is so similar because we are dealing with the repercussions of choices made during the last retrograde in Capricorn. What have we done to reach the goals we set during the new year? Mercury stops right on top of Pluto for a couple of days around the 19th, so we will be aware of situations dealing with power struggles and deep transforming truth. It will be a theme of the entire retrograde: How am I building my career? What are my goals in larger terms, aka what will be my legacy? Who or what is at odds with these goals?

However, there are some differences with the current configuration. Jupiter in the sign of Libra is activating a T-square (a very tense aspect). Jupiter is expanding relationships in the sign of Libra, the scales are evening out. People are more willing (and really, more in need) to help others, and imbalances in the give and take have a spotlight on them right now. This is in almost direct opposition with Uranus in Aries, which is zapping that relationship energy with a tug-of-war of individuality and personal power. We are expanding in our relationships right now because we are experiencing an internal revolution in the way we see ourselves. This is creating chain reactions of collaborative efforts and I’m definitely seeing people redefining themselves because of how they are relating to each other. Artistic folks are brimming with ideas and itching to get them out of the ether. Both of these planets are at at a square (the most tense aspect) to Pluto -and Mercury- in Capricorn. Pluto is transforming how we present ourselves to the world. We are evolving, and the T-square in effect through next year, basically, means that this is a time of critical attention. Things seem tense because we are reevaluating what we are putting into the world at large, due to the personal revelations we are having because everyone’s bouncing off of new energy right now.

Also, thinking about the progression of retrogrades this year, it’s interesting to me how they’ve moved through the earth signs. The one in January started in Aquarius, then moved back through Capricorn. This gave the opportunity to reflect on our dreams, and what actions we take to manifest them. Then in April and May, we shared the retrograde through Taurus, the first earth sign, in which we took a look at our values and self-esteem (am I getting paid what I’m worth? Am I creating what I want to see in the world? What is my power to create?). Later in August and September, we experienced the retrograde in Virgo, the second earth sign, in which Mercury in its home sign really helped us navigate the details of HOW we get things done, when we do, and whether that is eating up our time or really paying off. Now we’re back to the Capricorn Mercury Retrograde, and having gone through the steps this year, are ready to review what our goals are and whether or not we achieved them.

Interestingly, we started this retrograde madness this year in Aquarius (January 5-8, 2016), and are ending it with a pass through Sagittarius (January 5-12, 2017). What this says to me is that our hopes and dreams, and possibly even group relations set us on a journey of building this year. We went through the earth signs on our Mercury Retrograde journey of 2016, which is all about what we manifest and create in physical reality. It’s been a critical year, and this retrograde is all about stringing the choices we’ve made together into something cohesive and lasting. What we leave behind seems more important now than maybe earlier this year, maybe it wasn’t something we were thinking about before. Near the end of this cycle of retrogrades, we will be passing through Sagittarius one more time. This means that the influence of others will have less sway than it did when we started almost a year ago. We’ve learned a lot, seen a lot, and there’s no going back to where we were before. This final movement through Sag will ensure we are standing in our own truth. If we are not, this cycle will be quite jarring. If we are not willing to observe the truth, even if it is uncomfortable, we will not be able to properly create the world we want to live in. This is a critical time, where we must be willing to see truth, to speak truth, and to take right action.

Thanks so much for reading, and look forward to some changes by the end of this retrograde. Going over all the details has my mind spinning with possibilities!

Cheers,

Will

New Moon in Leo and Year One: Check

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for joining me on this journey over the past year since I started doing readings:) So happy to be at the Golden Braid in SLC, can’t wait to see what happens next!

Here’s a video of me talking about the Leo New Moon!

EDITS: It’s not Venus and Mars conjunct, it’s Venus and MERCURY. So scrap what I said, this time will be sensual rather than overtly sexual. We will want to communicate in a detailed way the beautiful things we are attracting in terms of creativity and recreation. Then with the trine to Uranus in Aries, that energy is electrified and we’re able to tap into innovation, the future almost reaches out through creative endeavors. We will want to gracefully speak on the insights and inspirations we are having.

Venus and Mercury are actually square Mars, but as Mars moves out of Scorpio, I think the conversation with Uranus will help us through any tensions that might arise. We might feel some friction, but we’ll have another kind of understanding that will lead the way.

Something I also forgot to mention is that there are no air signs activated, like the last full moon. Air energy is mental and intellectual and has everything to do with communication. Keeping the windows open to let some fresh air in will be needed. Like, it’s great to have other perspectives, but I think that the kinds of fires being lit and fueled right now go beyond words. This lunation, for me, is about experiencing rather than analyzing, doing rather than planning, feeling rather than thinking. There are things that are intuitive, and this time is very personal. Trust your inner voice and follow your creative spark. Talk less, do more.

Again, thank you profusely for your support! Like my page on FB, subscribe to my YouTube channel, and check us out at goldenbraidbooks.com!

Setting forward an intention as I go into my second year, I’m thinking about the end of Jupiter in Virgo transit: working on the details and generating more content, more consistently. Stay tuned for planetary transit updates, natal chart position breakdowns, and the continuation of the houses and moon cycle discussions. If there’s anything in particular you’d be interested in hearing about, let me know in the comments or on FB. Excited to move forward!

Cheers,

Will

Mercury Rx in Cap Shadow Zone

Today we enter the shadow zone for the upcoming Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn. The shadow zone is the area that Mercury will back up over, so we will hit this area at about 15° Cap three times. What happens today will resonate again Jan 23 during the retrograde, and Jan 29 after Mercury stations direct.

This blurb is more to talk about the dates and general vibe, I’ll describe how the retrograde will affect each sign later. We enter the shadow today, right on top of Pluto. Mercury will hit 1° Aquarius on Jan 5, and the retrograde will last until Jan 24, again at 15° Cap conjuct Pluto. Mercury will exit the shadow zone at 2° Aquarius on Feb 16.

Mercury is the planet of intellect, communication and some say, media. It shows us how we think, use words and absorb information.

Capricorn key words are responsibility, tradition and durability. The Cap association with the 10th house puts a spotlight on public life, career and ambition.

My feeling is that this Mercury Rx will have us thinking about the responsibilities we’ve taken on. The Rx’s last year were all in air signs, so it was a lot of talking and dealing with relationships. This Rx, not so much. Well be thinking about foundations for our lives, what has longevity and what has played out its course. We’ll be thinking about work, and whether it’s working for us. Thoughts of how we play our part on the world stage, our image, will be brought to the front.

Another element in play is that Mercury will be passing over Pluto, just as it’s conjunct today. Pluto is the planet of deep transformation, phoenix from the ashes and all that. It’s destructive power wants us to tear things down so new things can bloom. It’s a sexy planet, so we might be feeling the natural urges, especially in the horny sign of Cap. Pluto is associated with Hades and Persephone, so power struggles might be present in the areas mentioned above. Mercury is quick and out in the open, Pluto is buried deep in the dark, molten earth. What Mercury unearths might be startling.

The Sun will pass over Mercury Rx on Jan 14 and 15, so we might get really aware of all the action going on these days. Things might be pulled to our attention that we hadn’t noticed before.

Expect changes this Mercury Rx. Going over Pluto 3x won’t let us escape without leaving something behind. Mercury will be pulling things up from under that we might rather have been left buried. I’m thinking a lot of skeletons will be popping up out of a lot of closets. Roll with it, fighting the transformation will make it harder.

Cheers,

Will

P.p.s. I use THE NEW AMERICAN EPHEMERIS for the 21ST CENTURY by Rique Pottenger, based on the earlier work of Neil F. Michaelson for my astrodates.

P.p.p.s. I totally googled the image above, and it was Pinned by Isabel Summers onto Spiritual Astrology on Pinteret. Thanks Isabel!
