New Moon in Leo 7/31 & Full Moon in Aquarius 8/15

Hello,

This month’s lunar cycle should give a bit of a breather from the craziness of July. Things have been set in motion that we will be tracking with the transit of Mercury over the retrograde shadow zone through August 15- just in time for the Full Moon. As Mercury moves back from Cancer into Leo, we will be thinking more with our hearts and should be able to move into a new head/heart space. What do you think about the recent changes you have created and how do they make you feel?

The new moon in Leo on July 31 is considered a black moon because it is the second new moon in a calendar month (the first in Cancer was July 2). It is also considered a supermoon because it is at perigee, or the nearest part of its orbit. This can impact the tide, causing swells. Some astrology reports claim that there will be greater chance of ecological disasters, but we’re kind of in the middle of a global climate emergency. I think whatever the moon is doing can only help, lmao. The super full moons were earlier this year, and the following two new moons are as well. The moon is nearer the earth, signifying that the emotions will be deeper or more primal. My main thought about this, though, is that it is a normal occurrence and not necessarily as crazy as, say, the eclipse we just had at the last new moon. Supermoons are a part of an ongoing cycle, so if these enhance the energy, then this moon cycle is Big Leo Energy.

New Moons are a time to rest and recharge, to make plans and create maps for the month ahead. The New Moon on July 31 at 9.12pm MDT at 8° Leo is all about a new impulse of heart-level energy. What is fun and exciting for you and makes you feel cool doing it? What brings you a sense of personal pride? Where do you derive an internal sense of power? These questions are part of the Lion’s association with the astrological 5th house. Play, competition, and even gambling are up in this bitch. Leo follows the fire in their hearts, wherever it may lead. In fact, it was four years ago that I started my blog during the Leo New Moon. That led to joining the amazing team at Golden Braid Books, and now I’m a professional reader at one of the dopest places around. That heart-level impulse really created a whole new world for me. It felt kind of crazy and risky, but I’ve really enjoyed doing it over these years and will always think of the Leo New Moon fondly.

The Full Moon will bring to fruition all of those heart-level seeds that were planted during the New Moon in Leo. This will happen on August 15, 6.29am MDT at 22° Aquarius, where we take our personal energy and join our fellow man. The Water Bearer for which Aquarius gets its name is actually an air sign, fixed, giving a great concentration of mental energy. If Leo is personal power, Aquarius is people power. Its association with the astrological 11th house is all about networks, friends and associations, and ways we identify ourselves through societal groups. On another level, it’s about sharing dreams with the world and making them come true. It’s about offering relief to humanity through awareness and the gift of future-sight. And it’s about allowing each individual to shine while saving them space at the table. The Full Moon is a time to take action and shine based on the preparations of the New Moon. Go get ’em and make sure to share it big.

This moon cycle will also start to see actions being put into effect regarding the recent Mercury Retrograde in Leo/Cancer and especially the recent Eclipse in Cancer and the ongoing North Node in Cancer. Leo season will potentially see tempers flare. Hopefully this energy will bend towards justice and not toward despotism. Leo wants to be a good King or Queen and will roar to protect the pride.

The fire of this month will be activating off of all the Leo placements with Chiron in Aries and Jupiter in Sag, creating a grand fire trine for a number of weeks. I think this has the potential to be incredibly healing on a spiritual level – where we were once wounded, we will be able to heal and provide medicine for others.

Cheers,

Will

Mercury Retrograde in Leo / Cancer July 7-31, 2019

Hey so here’s a few words about Mercury Retrograde this July. I started this post weeks ago but it was never ‘perfect,’ so I’m trying to just go with ‘done.’

Retrograde is when a planet seems to slow down in its journey from east to west in the southern sky (northern hemisphere folks), and then move backwards for awhile. It then slows and stops again, and then proceeds forward through the same area of the sky that it had before. This process is caused by our relative orbit. The planet doesn’t actually change in its orbit. There are a bunch of interpretations for this retrograde motion, mainly that the energy of the planet goes inward/underworld for a time while we go over that area of our chart with a fine-toothed comb.

This time Mercury will back up from 4° Leo to 23° Cancer. Mercury is the ruler of intellect, expression, and communication; and is associated with the signs of air-talk Gemini and earth-action Virgo. This means that from casual conversations to big decision making, our intellectual ability to process is colored by Leo and mostly Cancer energy. We will tend to intellectualize our emotions at this time. We will wonder why we are having so many feelings. We will spend a lot of time processing how we are investing our emotional energy.

We entered the shadow zone at 23° ♋ on June 20. Mercury slowed through the first week of July and stationed retrograde on the 7th. It stationed direct late on the 31st, and we will exit the shadow zone on August 15. So while the worst is over, we will still have the next few weeks to get our house in order while Mercury picks up speed and emerges from the underworld.

A few summers ago, I wrote about Mercury Retrograde in Leo. This will have the same effect of making you ask if your heart is in what you’re doing, but then it will transition into deeper, more internal Cancer. This Retrograde will ask you to feel deeply and not shy away from what comes up from within. Are you being true to yourself? Are you able to feel what others are feeling as if it were your own feelings? Are you able to trust your own gut?

I made a video a week or two ago talking/ranting about this Mercury Retrograde in more detail. As you can see, I was in my slept-in hair, at home, soaking up the 4th house energy:

Also here’s the dates for the one later this fall:

Full Moon in Capricorn 7/16

Hello,

Of course I claim Mercury Retrograde Probs in posting two days late, but the Full Moon in Capricorn on Tuesday was also a lunar eclipse which lit up – or dimmed – 24° ♑ . I took an astro.com chart of the moment around 2pm MDT, which shows that the moon and eclipse were not visible from here in UT (🌕 symbol at bottom of chart next to ‘IC’).

Full moons are typically time to take action, where we are energized by the conscious solar light shining on the subconscious of the moon. The New Moon in Cancer, which was also the total solar eclipse at 10° ♋, would have given impulse to the things requiring our attention now. The axis of Cancer/ Capricorn finds us navigating our inner and public workings.

Capricorn’s keyword is responsibility. Ruled by stern Saturn, it is the sign of longevity. Capricorn must always improve over time, like its animal totem sea-goat climbing from the bottom of the sea to the top of the mountain. It is the cardinal third earth sign, giving initiative to lasting effect through hard work. Capricorn is organized and strategic, and uses limitations not as hindrances but rather as stepping stones. Its association with the astrological 10th house also influences public roles in life as well as career aspirations and overall lifeplan.

The Full Moon in Capricorn is shining in conjunction with ruler Saturn as well as Pluto. Our attention will be drawn to responsibilities we must face, ones that will have Saturn long-lasting impact as well as Pluto disruption and transformation. There’s something very “Hanged Man” from the Tarot about this energy to me- you gotta do what you gotta do, but make sure this new perspective is leveling you up. That strong Saturn energy might make you feel trapped, but there is something you need to learn about this. In a practical sense, you might find yourself on a tighter budget than you’re used to, but you have to learn how to handle it by doing it.

In the public sense there are a number of things that are slowly reaching a boiling point. Regardless of your views, no one is immune from the pressure and churning dissatisfaction. The timing of certain comments made last weekend by certain megalomaniacs are amplifying the intensity of the conjunction of Saturn/Pluto/Full Moon. There doesn’t seem to be a respite as we all will be forced to deal with the fallout. The crisis of the North Node in Cancer lies directly opposite this full moon as well. America is being forced to self-identify and the process is painful at best. Hopefully the tension that this activates will encourage us all to do our part and make collective changes. We need to move into a mode of feeling everything personally, deeply. We cannot separate ourselves from the plight of others. We need to embody nurturing, empathetic Cancerian energy.

Adding to the melee is the Full Moon in opposition to Mercury Retrograde. You might not be observing as much progress as you’d like, keep chipping away at it. The Cap Full Moon likes to get things done, but it seems like your efforts are thwarted. Rather than take in the whole big picture at once, break it down into manageable pieces. You’ll be pleased if you can see your efforts through to the end. This Retrograde energy also has the potential to see communication colored by power struggles. Through the end of the month it’ll help to speak from the heart without forcing your hand. It’ll be easy to push too hard. Help people realize that you are on their team.

If you can use your limitations constructively, this time can be of great use. Keep your eyes on the prize, and get yourself ready to win it.

Cheers,

Will

New Moon/Solar Eclipse/North Node in Cancer 7/2/17

No biggie!

So the new moon will happen just about on the Midheaven here in Utah, around exactly 12.16 pm.

There’s a lot going on just as we’re about to head into Mercury Retrograde this weekend. And nothing brings me out of a posting slump faster than going off about Mercury Retrograde!

Check the video for details.

Also, here’s my post about the North Node in Cancer.

Cheers,

Will

New Moon in Pisces 3/6/19

Hey ho,

The new moon in Pisces is upon us, all washed away with Mercury Retrograde in Pisces as well. New moons are when the moon is dark and the sun and moon return to the same point. Over the course of the month they separate and become full and wind down again. This is said to be a fertile time where new energy can be born and developed to its maturity on the full moon. New moon seeds, full moon harvests.

Pisces is the mutable water sign. This means they respond to the their environment emotionally. If water signs Moon Cancer is the tides and the rivers and Pluto Scorpio is the ice caps and pressurized caves, Neptune Pieces is the deep ocean current and the evaporated water in the atmosphere. Pisces picks up on EVERYTHING. And the sign is a combination of all previous 11 signs of the zodiac.

It’s associated with the depths of the subconscious, and to connection to the Other Side. It’s where our whole identity washes away and we are one with the universe.

Check out this chart! Mercury Retrograde conjunction Moon at 29° Pisces, all up on that Midheaven. No wonder I’ve been doing videos recently. Also Neptune rules cameras.

And check out this video, too:

Basically, get into the deep end. We’ll have a unique opportunity to merge and see things from another point of view. Don’t get drowned in the emotional flooding, submit and allow it to wash away what’s past.

Will

Saturn in Capricorn 12/19/17-12/16/20

Hey y’all,

Here’s a quick update on this long-term transit-we’re about a year into Saturn in Capricorn, good time for a checkup.

Saturn is the planet of rules and restrictions. It’s the reality check we need so we don’t get lost in dreams. While Jupiter expands and says yes, Saturn realistically sets boundaries and limits so we can measure progress. It’s often described as the heavy of the zodiac, bringing harsh lessons and grim character-building. In truth, without Saturn and its grounding influence we would be awash.

Saturn is the ruler of the sun of Capricorn, so it’s considered at home or in its domicile during this time. That means that Saturn is expressing in its pure form without being muted by other elements. Both planet Saturn and sign Cap are related to the passage of time, longevity, and legacy. Father Time is often associated with these energies, as well as Cronus and Rhea in myth.

Capricorn is the last of the earth signs which are primarily concerned with provable actions. Taurus represents the completed action, Virgo describes the methodology of the completed action, and Capricorn is the overall reason behind each completed action. I describe this as Taurus “I made a brick,” Virgo “This is how I made the brick,” and Capricorn “This brick will build my castle.” For this reason, people working with a lot of Capricorn in their charts are very concerned with reputation and public appearance. They take their personal sense of pride from the responsibilities that make them a part of their community, more than most. They are grounded and practical, with an eye on efficiency as they check their goals off of a usually literal list.

Following Saturn’s transit through Sagittarius from about 2015-17, we are now seeing the effects of the Big Ideas that happened during that time. For instance, a new tax code was passed here in America during heady Saturn Sag, that we aren’t seeing the effects of til now. I expect next tax day to be quite dramatic for some folks. Basically now we have to deal with the consequences of our actions. In another example, we elected a huge racist and now we have kids in cages on the border. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Saturn in Cap is that time.

Didn’t follow your workout regimen? Good luck staying fit during this transit. Didn’t do your homework? Don’t expect to pass the test. Saturn in Cap means your ass has to get to work. What you put in is what you will get out of this time. Anybody coasting is gonna get pushed out the way.

Basically because of the longevity of Cap, this period of time is all about sustained effort. If you don’t keep up your stamina, you’re gonna get left behind. Saturn is here to make you stronger, even if it’s gotta drag you kicking and screaming. There are always lots of karmic lessons that Saturn is trying to teach. This time is the culmination of those lessons-can you keep up? Can you stay on track? Can you maintain your budget? If the answer to these questions is no, get ready for your spiritual ass-whoopin’.

I recorded this video while drinking this summer, I don’t know if it’s any good but I do know that I learned a good Saturn in Capricorn lesson and quit smoking:

North Node in Cancer 11/6/18-5/4/20

Hey y’all,

A major transit that started in November was the passage of the lunar node into the sign of Cancer. It’s been in the sign of Leo for the last year or so, and I even wrote two posts about it.

Recorded this video around the new moon in Dec 18, hence seasonal decorations- and mostly I’ll let it do the talking.

Real quick in case I use this post later (lol), the north node shows us where we need to focus on growth and development. In the birth chart, it’s what we don’t know and are here to learn in this life. In transit, it gives insight to the challenges of the next year or so and how to be available to our full potential.

The sign of Cancer is all about being in touch with our own emotions. Like the crab in the changing tide, we look for security in the environment by clinging to what matters most to us- our loved ones, friends and family. Cancer is ruled by the moon and controls the emotional tides with its waxing and waning, meaning that our feelings come and go and change and develop over time. Are we going to ride the waves of the next year or get slammed by them?

Cancer is the archetypal Mother. Where it falls on our chart shows where we give and receive nurturing care. All these personal feelings and connecting to the maternal nature in all of us is a theme that might seem quite scary to a lot of people. Most of the time we cover up our emotions. But this next nodal phase is all about diving in to those waves to unlock the mystery.

I didn’t mention this in the video, but we all better start getting into this Mother Mode and go get all those kids out of jail on the US border. How can we not feel for our Fellow People? Hopefully this North Node in Cancer isn’t going to follow the trend and be another disaster for the US.

Anyhoo, I’ll probably do another checkpoint but here’s my hot take on the north node in Cancer:

Cheers,

Will

New Moon in Sagittarius 12/7

Hi y’all,

Welcome to one of the few times this year I’ve posted before the event happens! Hopefully this good planning energy will carry thru to next year:)

Cheers, Merry Xmas and all that Jazz,

Will

November ’18 was a Big Deal – OR – let’s get the hell outta Retrograde for the Holidays!

Hey y’all,

We are getting close to the end of Mercury Retrograde again, as Mercury stations direct at 27° Scorpio. The last time I blogged was the last Mercury Retro this summer, so I thought it was appropriate. In October and the first bit of November we were rocked by the less frequent Venus Retrograde, and this is what I thought about that. I would add that the advice I was giving to people in readings during Venus retrograde and its long transit through Scorpio this year was to focus on the kind of love one has to offer rather than the type of love one would like to receive. Here’s the video about Venus Retro (with a link to Uranus shifting into Taurus earlier this year):

And then right after Venus Retrograde ended, Mercury Retrograde started! We are on the tail end of the retrograde phase now, and will exit the shadow zone and move into new territory around Dec. 25. Here’s about Mercury Retrograde:

Another big year-plus transit that happened last month is the planet Jupiter moving into its domicile of Sagittarius through next December. Here is that video (with links to Jupiter in Scorpio and Jupiter in Libra from the last couple years for reference as well) :

And the biggie through the next little while is the lunar node shifting into Cancer! Take a listen to this video and let me know what you think (with both of the links that I made for North Node in Leo as reference):

See what I’m saying?? People were making jokes that 2018 took years but November only took about 20 minutes. It’s because there was a ton of stuff going on!

If you want to see how these changes are landing in your personal chart, schedule an appointment in person or by phone by calling Golden Braid Books at (801) 322-1162 and talking with the dopest staff in the world.

Sending you all the good mojo as we wrap up 2018 and get out of these retrogrades and into next year full tilt!

Cheers,

Will
