Saturn in Pisces 3/23-2/26

Saturn will transit the sign of Pisces starting now through the next couple of years. Here are the exact dates:

  • 3/7/23 6.34am MST thru 5/24/25 8.35pm MST (Saturn will break into Aries and go retrograde)
  • 9/1/25 1.06am MST thru 2/13/26 6.11pm MDT (Saturn shifts into Aries and stays)

Saturn had been in Aquarius since 12/16/2020, and between 3/21-7/1/2020. Saturn’s Great Conjunction with Jupiter took place at 0 Aquarius on December 21, 2020 at 11.20am MST.

The last time Saturn transited Pisces was in the 90s:

  • 5/20/93 9.58pm MST thru 6/30/93 1.29am MST (Saturn retrogrades into Aquarius)
  • 1/28/94 4.43pm MST thru 4/7/96 1.50am MST (Saturn shifts into Aries)

The time before that was in the 60s:

  • 12/15/64 10.39pm MST thru 3/3/67 2.31pm MST (Saturn shifts into Aries)

During the 30’s Saturn moved thru Pisces like this:

  • 2/14/35 7.08am MST thru 4/24/37 11.29pm MST (Saturn shifts into Aries and retrogrades)
  • 10/17/37 8.40pm MST 1/14/38 3.32am MST (Saturn shifts into Aries and stays)

And at the turn of the last century:

  • 4/13/05 1.40am MST thru 8/16/05 5.40pm MST (Saturn retrogrades into Aquarius)
  • 1/8/06 5.48am MST thru 3/19/08 7.23am MST (Saturn shifts into Aries)

AND SO WHAT?

Saturn is the planet that creates boundaries and structure in your chart. It can seem restrictive but the lessons it provides allow you to grow and develop. Saturn tries to establish routine and order, and through exercising discipline rewards long-term seekers. It spends about two and a half years in each sign and by the time it shifts considerable depth and wisdom should be cultivated in that area of your chart. The level-up effect is the result of your hard work, which Saturn requires.

Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, the mutable water sign. The mutable quality represents the changing seasons, and the adaptability of the intertwined fish. Water is emotion and intuition, and Pisces swims along the deep currents. An intriguing mashup of all the previous eleven zodiac signs, Pisces seems to have little bits of lots of different energies. They can seem fiery, they can seem down to earth, they can really be anything because they really are every woman.

Pisces represents the end of life, and all things washing back to the sea. Everything disintegrates and forms into something new, and this sign represents letting go and letting god. There’s a head-trippy, almost religious sense of connectedness with all things when talking about the fish, because we know that we are just a piece of a larger whole. This connection to our deepest feelings through our connection to the universe and collective consciousness is a part of Pisces’ relation to the 12th House.

The subconscious is in these deep waters of Pisces. Things that were repressed or are inaccessible to our waking mind, things we experience in the dream state, and things that we pull out of the air around us are all affected by this transit. Things might seem to come out of the proverbial woodwork at this time, but these things are manifestations of your inner reality. Are you attending to your responsibilities?

This time can create a great amount of fear generating from your unconscious. You must learn to face this element of yourself so you can connect to the world around you. Pisces can enable addictive tendencies during this time, because it might feel better to numb your pain or chase levity, but habits are formed quickly during this time. I strongly advise that you don’t generate bad habits during this time, especially when it comes to drinking. Don’t play with alcoholism because those waters run deep and they can get you.

The Piscean rulership of the 12th House is the house of hidden enemies and forces. On the surface I think there will be developments with covid and other illnesses, starting with the avian flu that is now showing up in mammals across the world. Because they can’t be seen, I think there will be a proliferation of illnesses – made more severe by the ongoing effects from long covid. The US ending the national emergency and disbanding covid response in May will result in much more unchecked illness.

The 12th House also deals with institutions and institutionalization. Areas where you give up personal identity to be part of a larger whole: being admitted to the hospital, engaging academia, being arrested, etc. These areas and institutions will experience a dissolving, a changing of the way that we experience our relation to them. We are already watching certain institutions dissolving like that Silicon Valley bank situation.

Saturn moving through Pisces might seem like sifting through an inordinate amount of muddy water, but that will be the only way to ensure that what you are doing is right. The ongoing era of mis- and disinformation will surge into this time, because we will probably reach saturation during this time and reality and fiction will be very difficult to tell apart. The point of mis- and disinformation is not necessarily to trick you outright but to make it so hard to find the truth that you give up. Saturn will really be testing everyone’s mental acumen when it comes to emotional response and media literacy.

If you were born during the times listed above, you are now experiencing your Saturn Return. The actual date of your Return can be found by looking at your chart, but for all intents and purposes you are experiencing a crucial time of seemingly fateful choices and consequences. Have you learned your Pisces lessons? Can you go with the flow and not lose yourself in the process? Do you value your vision of your life enough to make it reality? Do you know who you are even when the world around you changes? This time comes to your life as a series of trials and tribulations, but guess what? If you handle your shit, you get to mature and grow up. And you will be more powerful than before. I can hear all the 90s kids turning 30.

This time offers you a period of profound psychological growth. Don’t be afraid of what you feel. Let your antennae be up and attuned to what is happening around you, and you won’t go wrong.

Full Moon in Pisces 9/20/21

Hello:)

Tonight’s full moon is Pisces is at 5.55pm MDT. It falls at 28° and kicks off the latter half of the New Moon in Virgo cycle which began Sep. 6 (I think I said the 8th in the video).

Part of the learning to go with the flow is Mercury Retrograde in Libra beginning on Sep. 26 before the New Moon in Libra on the 6th of Nov. Relationship strain! And on the macro level, lots of troubling legislation on the horizon.

Here’s the video:

Cheers,

Full Moon in Virgo 3/1

Hey hey hey,

The full moon in Virgo takes place at 11 degrees, exactly opposite the Sun in Pisces. There are six of these opposites in the zodiac, and none of them show the difference between “dreams” and “reality” more than Pisces and Virgo, respectively. This full moon lights up in Virgo to remind us that we cannot live on dreams alone. We have to do things, and the more efficiently we do them, the easier our dreams will be to manifest.

Full moons are the culmination of plans and cultivation of seeds planted during the previous new moon (which was in Aquarius). It’s the time to do the things you set out to do. The light of the Sun (representing consciousness) is fully illuminating the moon (representing subconsciousness)- it means our insides are equally energized.

Virgo is the 2nd earth sign, and it shows the mutable quality. The first earth sign, Taurus, represents what we do (I made a brick). The second, Virgo, represents how we do the things we do-what is our method, our system, etc. (This is how I made the brick). The third earth sign of Capricorn represents to what end we do the things we do (This is how the brick I made builds the house I built). Virgo is all about details, and making sure things are right. This is because Virgo, like all mutable signs, combines the qualities of the previous two signs. In this case, it’s Cancer the Mother, and Leo the Father. Virgo must be discriminating and use all the lessons learned from both ‘parents’ to make their own choice. They must ultimately be whole unto themselves, like the original etymological meaning of the word.

The astrological 6th House (just below the western horizon in the sky) is associated with Virgo. Schedules, work, routines, chores, habits, and all the minutiae of mundane daily life are found and organized here. This includes our day-to-day health and maintenance. Are you taking care of your body? Are you taking care of your time? are the pressing questions of the 6th House. This full moon will tend to pull our heads out of the clouds and be more on the ground. But, those pesky life things like making sure the gas tank is filled means that we can drive toward those dreams without having to worry about running out on the way. Making sure that laundry got done means not worrying about what you’re going to wear tomorrow as you sashay toward them dreams! How are these analogies working out?

astro_w2gw.64054.22777

Interesting things about this full moon are that it has a nice trine to Saturn, so all this hard yet maybe boring focus on work will have long-lasting foundations. Pluto has a minor grand trine with Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces-meaning lots of changes, but a lot of them are about the way we feel right now rather than the way things appear to be on the outside. We are connecting to some real vibey shit right now, and I’m not sure anyone really knows how that’s going to express on a public level which is what Pluto in Cap is all about. Part of that configuration is creating a pointy finger of Yod at the north node in Leo, which I mentioned before. That means that we are going to want to blend into the crowd right now, but this is the time to stand in that big scary spotlight and roar like the Lion you are this year! Overall there’s a lot going on socially, big picture wise, but this time is asking that you follow your own heart, even if it means taking a big leap.

Make sure that you are taking care of you as you do the things you do the way you do them. And take it easy on anyone who is not doing it as well as you-they are working their own process, too.

Go get em!

Venus in Aries, Retrograde to Pisces thru 4/15

Quick overview/Dates:

  • April 2-Venus re-enters the sign of Pisces, 5.25pm MST
  • April 15-Venus stations direct at 26 degrees of Pisces, 3.18am MST
  • April 28-Venus re-enters Aries, 6.13am MST
  • May 20-Venus exits retrograde shadow zone at 14 degrees Aries

Hi y’all,

Venus went retrograde earlier this week in the sign of Aries. Venus is the ruler of love and and attraction and affection, aesthetics and beauty, our individual feminine nature, and how we experience pleasure. Venus also shows us how we relate to each other, how we react within relationships because it also rules the sign of Libra. Aries is the portion of the zodiac associated with personal identity, it’s motto is “I Am.” The first sign of the zodiac, it is the cardinal (initiative) fire (spirit) that operates as the Masculine Principle. Aries wants what it wants, when it wants it. It’s the fire that opens the seed up and pushes the roots down and the leaves up. The first day of Aries is the first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere.

While in Aries, Venus loves her independence. In this sign, we want what we want. And not only that, but that wanting becomes a part of our personal identity during this time. Folks with this placement in their natal charts (or Venus in the 1st House) know that it can cause us to be very into ourselves…like, there are other people in the world, you know? However, as a benefic in the chart, Venus provides grace and charm. So we might be self-obsessed at the moment, but at least we’re charismatic and fun to be around, right?

Because they embody very different energies, Venus is considered in her ‘detriment’ in Aries. This means her power is diminished, or that she isn’t quite up to full strength (as opposed to her being exalted in the previous sign of Pisces-pin in that). Aries is ‘what I want,’ and Venus kind of loses her relational vibes here. She’s all about pleasures and comfort, and Aries is a questing knight always on the move. She wants to connect with others and Aries has a one-track mind on their next conquest.

So! When a planet goes retrograde, it seems to slow down and back up in the sky. It doesn’t really do that, it’s just an illusion created by that planet’s orbit in relation to our own-but, interestingly it means that that planet is closer to Earth than other times. Venus also has a very interesting trajectory, it hits the same five points in the zodiac within a couple of degrees. Her full cycle takes about eight years, and her path describes a giant pentagram in the sky. The last time she went retrograde at this position was the spring of 2009.

The ancient peoples of the world also recognized another interesting feature of Venus’ retrograde motion. Most of the time she appears in the evening sky on the Western horizon, but as she goes retro she seems to set in the west. As she approaches her conjunction with the Sun, she disappears below the west for a week or two. Then she starts showing up in the morning for a few weeks, on the Eastern horizon with the sunrise! This is what the ancients called “The Morning Star”-you might have heard of her elsewhere by that name. This is Venus in her warrior armor. She’s usually the demure and coquettish vision we think of standing in a clamshell. As the morning star, she is wrathful and capable of defeating her husband (Aries, get it?) in battle. It’s a side of Venus we don’t really think about a lot, but it happens about every two years. (Side bar. Last time she went retro in summer 2015, spending four months in Leo-the sign of the heart-we got that old marriage equality in the US. Moon was in Libra, sign of relationships and because of its Scales totem, Justice.)

To synthesize all that, this Venus Retrograde is a journey of self-love! Any retrograde motion brings the energy of the planet inward (maybe because the planet is closer, we feel it more?). It makes us internalize the energy-and when that energy has to do with relating to others, we ask how we are a part of that equation. Retrogrades are a time to reconsider, reevaluate, reexamine. So the questions I think of about this time are things like, Am I doing what makes me happy and brings me pleasure? Am I who I want to be and am I becoming who I want to be? Am I standing in my own truth and moving in the direction of the things I want?

If we aren’t happy with the answers to those questions, the quality of this time will motivate us to make the changes necessary. If we are happy with those answers, I think we’ll experience small, quiet affirmations.

Additionally, because Venus has to do with love and relating, during her retrograde motion we might encounter people from our past. These encounters will put a spotlight on how these relationships have impacted us. We’ll have a comparison to gauge our growth and determine whether these relationships are or aren’t still a part of our identity (Aries).

And last but not least, Venus will re-enter the sign of Pisces as part of this retrograde! Venus is exalted in this sign, because she can connect to the Universal Mojo without the hindrance of ego that she experiences in Aries. I think of this like a spiritual baptism (is there any other kind, lol). On this journey of self-love and care, Venus dips back into the waters of Pisces. This identity crisis goes into the subconscious, is refreshed and continues on with new vigor. This time is a great opportunity to check that our values and actions are in alignment. Is my identity in line with Universal Will? Am I creating the kind of love I want to experience? How is my nature intrinsically connected to All Of Creation?

This is an exciting time! Because of this long-standing T-square (Jupiter in Libra, Pluto in Capricorn, Uranus in later degrees of Aries), there has been a lot of external pressures on all of us. This time is demanding that we check in with ourselves right now. We can’t be a good balance to our partners if we are not in balance ourselves. We can’t have good friends if we can’t be good friends. We can’t effect change in the world at large if we aren’t sure of our own intentions. This time is inviting us to look at ourselves and lovingly correct what is not in alignment.

Thanks so much for reading! Let me know what you think, and how your retrograde is going.

Cheers,

Will

New Moon in Gemini

Hi there,

The new moon in Gemini happens this Saturday the 4th at 8:59 pm Mountain Standard Time. I may or may not have said Sunday in the video, so…my bad.

Decided to do a lil video update since this new moon is in Gemini.

Don’t think I got to it in the video, but also interesting rn is Mars Retrograde, currently in Scorpio. Retrogrades make energy closer, more inward because the planet itself is actually closer. Lots of internalized energy in terms of will and passion. This had been in Scorpio for awhile, was in free Sag for a bit but now we’re back. More skeletons in the dark Scorpio closet, maybe more things to let go of from the past. Issues in expressing will in close, bonded relationships; maybe this internalized Mars energy has you or your close partners acting in different ways? Dunno but in general, lots of scheming, especially in this chatty Gemini weather. All under a grand cross as well, so there are a lot of things coming to a boil right now. Keep an eye out.

I referenced ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ASTROLOGY by Nicholas Devore, THE NEW AMERICAN EPHEMERIS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY by Rique Pottenger based on Michelsen, and THE ONLY ASTROLOGY BOOK YOU’LL EVER NEED by Joanna Martine Woolfolk.

New Moon in Virgo and Partial Solar Eclipse

Hey everyone!

Big things happening this weekend with the New Moon in Virgo, as well as a partial Solar Eclipse.  This takes place at 12.41am on Sunday, Mountain Standard Time.  I made a video describing these energies, and how they flow from last month here:

Other details pertinent to this transit include the opposition to Chiron at 19° Pisces, which will activate an opportunity for healing.  Chiron is an asteroid/planetoid between Jupiter and Saturn, symbolizing the bridge between past and present, between the waking world and the underworld.  He’s the wounded healer, representing where we have been hurt or where we are incomplete, and conversely, where we can heal others and in doing so, become whole.  In Pisces, this has to do with our subconscious.  The deepest parts of our minds, our connection to the other side, the spiritual energies of the universe, the place where we wash away and become one with creation, is highlighted during this New Moon and partial Solar Eclipse.  We have the opportunity to heal these hurts in our souls, or we run the risk of becoming paralyzed by them and allowing them to take over.  Oppositions are a fine-tuned balance or a tug of war.  Will you hold on to past hurts, or will you become empowered by them?  With Saturn at the last degree of Scorpio (shared values, regeneration, cycles), I would encourage all of us to let go and release these hurts.  This will create the balance we need to integrate Chiron’s healing energy into this new phase of our lives.  Because this Solar Eclipse is opening a portal to new world of our own devising, don’t limit your power during this time. What you feel can be made manifest.

While we have this healing going on, we will need to be aware of Uranus over there at 19° Aries.  This creates what’s called a quincunx, an aspect of 150 degrees to the New Moon.  This is at best…unpredictable.  With Uranus’ M.O. of breaking out and rebelling against the status quo, electrically charging whatever he touches, this New Moon and partial Solar Eclipse can have explosive results.  This could mean you are encountering new ideas or situations that you have no basis of experience with, it could challenge your ideas about who you are.  It’s possible that in delving into the psyche of Chiron/Pisces, you find things that don’t fit with how you now see the world or even yourself. That’s OK! The only constant is change.  And this can quite possibly be a violent change.  Aries is warlike, almost childishly, innocently selfish and with Uranus there supercharging our self-interest, we could be seeing major, jolting changes in the areas of our lives where these things land in our chart.  Chiron/Pisces blends into the next sign of Uranus/Aries, so while these changes might seem incongruent or unexpected, the New Moon/Eclipse/Virgo energies will help actualize and physicalize and realize – in the waking world – the birth of the new energies within you.

Go for it!  Blow stuff up!  Leave it behind you!

A new world is waiting for you.

Cheers,

Will
