Uranus in Taurus 5/15/18-4/25/26

Howdy ho,

So here’s my first attempt at a long-range horoscope with the shift of Uranus into Taurus in May. It’s been in the sign of Aries since March of 2011, and my quick wrap-up of that time period is a revolution (Uranus) in how we identify (Aries). Our identity as individuals has come under close scrutiny during these twenty-teens. I think the revolution of social media has caused everyone to create an identity for themselves, in a way the world has never seen before. This is who I am, this is how I prefer to be addressed, and I won’t try to fit into any preconceived boxes that have been determined for me. I might sum up the last Uranus cycle as the phrase: “You don’t know me.”

I like the description of Uranus as the “Awakener.” It breaks the rules, breaks down old systems and outdated ways of thinking with an eye on the future. It is the modern ruler of the sign Aquarius, which relates to the concept of genetic variance: we need outside genes in this pool. We need to mix it up. The prior two signs of Sagittarius and Capricorn represent the ideas of Jupiter/expansion/freedom and Saturn/contraction/limits, respectively. Aquarius and its ruler Uranus operate outside the terms set by both. They defy convention. Whatever planet touches or has aspect to Uranus is ‘electrified,’ and will use unorthodox means to their ends. Because of its association with Aquarius, Uranus speaks to the People. As it spends many years in a sign, it’s called a ‘generational planet,’ as its effect is echoed in all of the people born during that time.

The sign of Taurus is much more self-centered. It’s associated with the 2nd House, which is where we value things. Everything. From our self-esteem to our hourly rate, Taurus’ motto is “I have.” It’s the first fixed-sign, a powerhouse where we store energy in our chart. As an earth-element, Taurus is grounded and practical. Their physical sensuality is how they experience the world. Taurus is the first place where our intentions (from previous sign Aries) become actions. It’s what we create, what we do. Without regard for others or its usefulness to them, or over-analyzing the process. Along with Virgo and Capricorn, Taurus has to do with money and work.

So a quick analysis of the next 8 years is that the way we value things is going to change. A few examples of this might be the cryptocurrency that’s been developed in the last few years-it might go to a whole other level and show us a new way to value currency. Another global shift to be aware of is how countries are changing monies-the next year or two might shake up those trends quite a bit. As Taurus has to do with personal values, I predict more policy shifts regarding minimum wage. “My value cannot be defined, there are no limits” is a phrase that might sum up this time. Something my bleeding heart would love to see is something like a universal minimum income-but that would be quite the shakeup, wouldn’t it? People’s head would explode or fall off, especially here in whatever is left of the US. (LOLz) Universal Health Care might come to the forefront, which would also be awesome.

I wrote out a bunch of nonsense, but here are some dates and why to keep them on the back burner:

-Summer 2018 and Summer 2019 will the the start of the shifts. It will seem like we are breaking personal ground, and that we are all making positive changes collectively. There will be a lot of change-but it will seem to move forward. The focus during this time is HARD WORK-if you do yours, it will pay off. {Llewllyn’s suggests a slowing of market trends?}

-December 2019-December 2020 will have Jupiter in Capricorn, a favorable aspect to Uranus in Taurus. This will be a big year of breakthroughs and innovations. This will seem like a prodigiously productive time, but it will come through unexpected means. This will be a good time to make moves, position yourself for what’s next.

-Saturn and Jupiter will BOTH be in Aquarius in January and February of 2020, almost exactly square Uranus in Taurus. This means that this kicks off a real rough time, interestingly right after the next inauguration here in the States. My notes that I prepped while reading my ephemeris say: “Very tense, added volatility with Jupiter conjunct. Collective v. Self-Our lessons are grounded in social Aquarius, but our Self is in Revolt. Hard to make moves/impossible to predict/constant building up and consequent smashing of barriers.”

-Then from 5-12/2022, Capricorn Pluto will trine Uranus in Taurus. This is where a lot of the changes that have been building up over the past few years will finally move their tectonic plates. I wrote: “BIG MOVES/SHAKEUPS. Conflicts/resolutions. Harmonizing changes to personal value and society at large.”

Last time Uranus went into Taurus in 1934, we were in between two world wars. Let’s hope and pray we’ve learned our lessons since then. And better yet-let’s get out there and demonstrate that we have. Let’s make sure we know that we are invaluable as individuals and take that mentality to the collective and start taking care of each other like the priceless gems we are. Don’t let anyone else define your worth, demand better. Be more valuable than money. You are worth it.

So I hope this quick chunk makes any kind of sense. Long story short: Pay me more. Respect my body and the values it espouses. Also get ready for big changes that start on the inside.

Let’s do this.

Cheers,

Will

North Node in Leo 5/9/17-9/6/18

Hey ho,

This one has been a long time coming. I had a lot of ideas about it, but didn’t really know how to express them. So here goes.

The moon’s nodes are the points where the moon’s orbit around the earth crosses earth’s orbit around the sun. The north node is where the moon passes the earth’s orbit in front, and the south node is where it passes behind. They will always be opposite each other. In the natal chart the nodes indicate your soul’s journey through this life. The nodes represent where you are coming from and where you are going. The south node is what we already know or have carried with us from ‘past lives.’ This is our comfort zone, the place where we operate from an instinctual level. If we don’t overcome the challenges inherent to our south node, it will be impossible to move into the new territory of the north node.

The north node represents what we are here to learn in this life. It’s what we don’t know, what is foreign to us, and what we are here to master. The north node is the idealized version of ourselves, having learned and mastered the impulses of the south node to step into new territory.

The north node in Leo, in short, is about what you love doing and how doing that makes you the king or queen you are going to be. Leo is the sign of royalty, kingly or personal power, and creativity. Leo rules the heart and its passions. This next year is about stepping into your own personal interests and authority.

The way we get there is by honoring the lessons of the south node. In Aquarius (Leo’s opposite sign), people power is key. How does this affect not only me, but everyone else? This year means that we need to be moving away from putting others’ needs and especially wants before our own. It’s important to realize that we do fit into our groups, but now is the time to follow our own hearts. It’s the time to create boldly based on our own interests rather than checking in with the committee.

The lesson of moving from south node Aquarius to north node Leo is that in order to be a good ruler, one must understand the needs of the people. If you have mastered the south node in Aquarius, you operate from a place of harmony with others. You don’t overly depend on the opinions of social groups to get things done. But by the same token, you aren’t going to act tyrannically as you step into your Leo north node. You will have learned leadership skills and how to shine on your own.

This next year or so is you stepping into your own autonomy. What kind of ruler will you be? Will you follow your heart or try to exert control over others? Will you build up the People or be torn apart by them?

This lesson is personal and Universal. What kind of leaders will we be? How will we lead? It’s the time to step into the spotlight and use the force of your will (another Leo keyword) to create. What kind of leaders will we follow? What kind of kingdom are we creating for ourselves, and as the lesson of south node Aquarius teaches, for each other?

Cheers,

Will

Mars in Aries thru 3/9

Hi everyone,

Mars, the planet of passion, drive, and directive will, entered its domicile on 1/27 at 10.39pm MST. I just walked into work at Golden Braid Books and we got to talking about how there was a crazy energy shift on Monday. I think this was it! Aries is the sign associated with personal identity, its motto is “I Am.” So Mars is in its homebase all this month.

Mars was in Pisces from about December 20 through last weekend. He doesn’t like to be in that sign because Pisces is all about letting go of the self to become One with the universe. Mars is all about ME and WHAT I WANT, so that fire has been squelched for the last couple of weeks in the watery sign of the subconscious. This would lead us to feel a sense of sacrificing our personal energy for others-Pisces and its association with the 12th House is often summed up as “Serve or Suffer.” We might have felt like it doesn’t matter what we DO because ‘everything happens for a reason’ or ‘I don’t seem to have a choice, so why bother?’ We might have not been aiming at personal goals as strongly as other times, getting caught up in the deep emotional currents and dreamstate with which Pisces blesses us.

Mars is busting out! We are all of a sudden very aware that we (and everyone else) has a bunch of opinions, and are not afraid to make them known. It seems like what we want (Mars) is tied intrinsically to our perception of ourselves (Aries). So what might have been a simple disagreement a couple of weeks ago becomes a fiery battle of wills because it’s not just our ideas that are being challenged, but ourSELVES. Our will is who we are right now.

This fire is enhanced by Venus, entering Aries this very morning at 8.51am MST. We are fired up! Venus will be going retrograde next month and spending a lot of time in Aries this spring, I’ll have more on that later.

From Monday the 13th onward, Mars will be getting closer and closer to Uranus until the reach conjunction on the 28th. Uranus is the Awakener, it zaps whatever it touches with explosive energy. Uranus breaks out of the mold and refuses to be restrained, it has through its association with the sign of Aquarius a visionary nature. With Mars, the planet of personal will, joining forces with the astrological revolutionary, I think we will be taking the already powerful energy of Mars in its home sign and superboosting it with unpredictable results. This could express as feeling very personally empowered, feeling like we are a little bit invincible. We might also feel this as an external pressure, feeling challenges to our will as this unstable, electric, possibly motivational force. Either way, I think leading up to the end of this month we will be all fired up, and wanting to release that energy in a visceral way (…in bed lol). We won’t be inclined to let things lie, or smooth things over for the sake of a false peace. If we have something to say, we might say it without even thinking. Of course, we might later regret such hastiness, but this energy won’t allow us to contain ourselves. Because what we want is who we are right now.

All the Uranus action will be activating the long-standing T-square of Uranus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn square Jupiter in Libra. I’ve described this in past posts, but basically we are having ‘growing opportunities to connect with others one-on-one’ having a tug-of-war with ‘new ways we are thinking about ourselves as individuals,’ all being challenged with ‘who we are becoming as a whole society.’ This is a time where things are changing with no small amount of struggle, and I think the energy of the next couple of weeks will clarify who we are individually and recharge the batteries of what we want out of what is going on in the world around us. Depending on how you handle conflict, this might make things more challenging. If you take things personal, which this will make us want to do, we might be more inclined to fight or come into conflict with others opposing us. In any case, we will be full of fire.

Feel the fire, baby! Use it.

Cheers,

Will

New Moon in Aquarius 1/27

Hi y’all,

The new moon lands at 8 degrees Aquarius tonight at 5.07pm MST. The new moon is the conjunction of the Sun and Moon, meaning they are both at the same point. The moon is in the Earth’s shadow and is dark for a few days. This symbolizes that the emotional/subconscious nature is in shadow, not yet illuminated by the conscious light of the Sun. It means we have a more primal energy, a more raw state that gives birth to a new energy, culminating with the full moon in Leo on February 10.

Aquarius is all about connection to the collective. How we maintain individuality and yet identify with groups of people. If it’s opposite sign of Leo is all about personal power and creativity, Aquarius is about people power and dreaming. Leo is ruled by our close-up star, the Sun. Aquarius is the far-off star, associated with clairvoyancy and vision. Traditionally ruled by Saturn, in modern astrology ruled by Uranus, Aquarius breaks the mold. It’s like the concept of genetic variance. If a gene pool is too shallow, it’s not good for the population. Aquarius comes in and gives us the alterations we need to keep the line moving into the future. The farsight of the Aquarian nature is ahead of its time. They have their finger on the future pulse, with their far-out knowledge directly sourced from somewhere else in the universe. Aliens, maybe? Who knows.

This moon cycle will have us thinking about how we fit into the collective. Over the next couple of days, it’s better to lay low and make plans to be carried out around the full moon. Are we contributing to what’s going on around us, or are we separate from it? Are we fulfilled in the roles we have in group settings? Are we happy with the identity we’ve cultivated within those roles? The seeds are being planted now.

A couple of things going on in the sky right now that activate this energy in different ways. First, the T-square of Uranus in Aries square Pluto/Mercury in Capricorn square Jupiter in Libra is still going strong. Election fallout, maybe? We are still actively engaged in transforming the public world we live in, and as these planets are generally very slow moving, we’ll be figuring it out for awhile. We are expanding relationships while totally rebelling against the self-image that has been brought into focus recently. Surprisingly, Saturn’s placement in Sagittarius right now is offering relief to this T-square. This means that having a solid, grounded understanding of the philosophies that rule your life can provide relief to the attention/stress caused by the T-square. After the last couple months, Saturn and it’s sextile to Jupiter in Libra is encouraging us to remain calm in the storm, reminding that Saturn lessons are hard but ultimately here for our growth.

Luckily! Mercury exits the shadow zone of the Retrograde in Capricorn today (think I listed it as leaving on the 29th, but that’s wrong). There’s been a LOT of Big-Picture Life Planning going on, everyone has had an intense drive to figure out long term goals over the last month. Well, starting today we get to move forward on a lot of the issues we’ve been dealing with, breaking into new territory after what seems like months of rigamarole. Mercury will be passing over Pluto again in a few days, and we’ll have more chances to transform and meet our struggles with power through communication. The difference now is that we will be able to move on rather than be stuck in a quagmire. Go get em!

In the next week or so, both Venus and Mars will be moving from the sign of Pisces to the sign of Aries. This indicates to me that we’ve been in a bit of a dream state, feeling unusually immersed in our subconscious/dreamstate. When they are both fired up in Aries, I expect we’ll feel more into ourselves. It will definitely increase aggression, in terms of objectives, knowing what you want and how to get it. These planets in Aries could also have us feeling more ‘selfish.’ Which is fine, unless you forget the interests of others while you’re getting yours. And when I say get yours, I mean get ready for some sensual times. I’ll write more about both of these events, including the upcoming Venus Retrograde. So! We’ve been all up in our dreamy selves, serving others, connecting to the universe. Now we’ll be connecting with our own damn selves.

Use the energy of this moon cycle to recharge your group energy. Friends, contacts, networks are all of tantamount importance at this time. Many times, we define ourselves through our interactions with others. This Aquarius energy emphasizes that. No man is an island, and we’ll be very aware of that now. Aquarius is also the sign of hopes and dreams, so now is the time to plant as many seeds as possible. How are you fertilizing these seeds? How are you cultivating each step toward your goals? Are you taking action every day to reach that far-off star? Any actions in that direction will take you far.

Cheers!

Will

Mercury Retrograde 12/19-1/8

Hi everyone!

We’re already a couple of days deep into the latest Mercury Retrograde! It stationed retro on Monday, Dec. 19 at 15 degrees of Capricorn,  and will go until stationing direct at 28 degrees of Sagittarius on January 8 of next year. Here’s a quick list of dates pertinent to this Rx:

  • Mercury in Shadow Zone (thru area that Retrograde backs up to): 12/2-1219
  • Mercury Retrograde from 15 Cap to 28 Sag (backing up): 12/19-1/8
  • Mercury in Shadow Zone (once more thru the same area): 1/8-1/29

A retrograde is a time when a planet seems to slow down and stop, then proceed backward for a time. The planets don’t really change direction, of course, it’s all an optical illusion based on the Earth’s rotation and orbit around the sun. Mercury, the fastest moving planet, goes retro about three or four times a year. When a planet goes retrograde, it’s generally the thought that the energy expression of the planet goes inward. So for Mercury, the planet of intellect, communication, and expression, it kind of gums up the works. ‘They’ say not to sign contracts or make major life decisions during this time, because in general, we’re not ‘thinking straight.’ Arguments and disagreements might pop up a lot during this time, but if we are aware of the energy, we can choose a different outcome.

This Mercury Retrograde is very similar to the short one we experienced in January, which I described here: Mercury Rx in Cap January 2016.  I think this retrograde is so similar because we are dealing with the repercussions of choices made during the last retrograde in Capricorn. What have we done to reach the goals we set during the new year? Mercury stops right on top of Pluto for a couple of days around the 19th, so we will be aware of situations dealing with power struggles and deep transforming truth. It will be a theme of the entire retrograde: How am I building my career? What are my goals in larger terms, aka what will be my legacy? Who or what is at odds with these goals?

However, there are some differences with the current configuration. Jupiter in the sign of Libra is activating a T-square (a very tense aspect). Jupiter is expanding relationships in the sign of Libra, the scales are evening out. People are more willing (and really, more in need) to help others, and imbalances in the give and take have a spotlight on them right now. This is in almost direct opposition with Uranus in Aries, which is zapping that relationship energy with a tug-of-war of individuality and personal power. We are expanding in our relationships right now because we are experiencing an internal revolution in the way we see ourselves. This is creating chain reactions of collaborative efforts and I’m definitely seeing people redefining themselves because of how they are relating to each other. Artistic folks are brimming with ideas and itching to get them out of the ether. Both of these planets are at at a square (the most tense aspect) to Pluto -and Mercury- in Capricorn. Pluto is transforming how we present ourselves to the world. We are evolving, and the T-square in effect through next year, basically, means that this is a time of critical attention. Things seem tense because we are reevaluating what we are putting into the world at large, due to the personal revelations we are having because everyone’s bouncing off of new energy right now.

Also, thinking about the progression of retrogrades this year, it’s interesting to me how they’ve moved through the earth signs. The one in January started in Aquarius, then moved back through Capricorn. This gave the opportunity to reflect on our dreams, and what actions we take to manifest them. Then in April and May, we shared the retrograde through Taurus, the first earth sign, in which we took a look at our values and self-esteem (am I getting paid what I’m worth? Am I creating what I want to see in the world? What is my power to create?). Later in August and September, we experienced the retrograde in Virgo, the second earth sign, in which Mercury in its home sign really helped us navigate the details of HOW we get things done, when we do, and whether that is eating up our time or really paying off. Now we’re back to the Capricorn Mercury Retrograde, and having gone through the steps this year, are ready to review what our goals are and whether or not we achieved them.

Interestingly, we started this retrograde madness this year in Aquarius (January 5-8, 2016), and are ending it with a pass through Sagittarius (January 5-12, 2017). What this says to me is that our hopes and dreams, and possibly even group relations set us on a journey of building this year. We went through the earth signs on our Mercury Retrograde journey of 2016, which is all about what we manifest and create in physical reality. It’s been a critical year, and this retrograde is all about stringing the choices we’ve made together into something cohesive and lasting. What we leave behind seems more important now than maybe earlier this year, maybe it wasn’t something we were thinking about before. Near the end of this cycle of retrogrades, we will be passing through Sagittarius one more time. This means that the influence of others will have less sway than it did when we started almost a year ago. We’ve learned a lot, seen a lot, and there’s no going back to where we were before. This final movement through Sag will ensure we are standing in our own truth. If we are not, this cycle will be quite jarring. If we are not willing to observe the truth, even if it is uncomfortable, we will not be able to properly create the world we want to live in. This is a critical time, where we must be willing to see truth, to speak truth, and to take right action.

Thanks so much for reading, and look forward to some changes by the end of this retrograde. Going over all the details has my mind spinning with possibilities!

Cheers,

Will

Mars in Sagittarius 8/3-9/28

Hello hello,

Mars, the fiery god of war, moved into expansive Sagittarius at the beginning of August. Mars has to do with willpower, chanelling the will outward to meet challenges and face foes. It’s glyph is the male symbol, and it’s the masculine or directive energy. We’ll have a great deal of energy and drive where Mars is in our chart. Mars shows us our physical strength and stamina, where energy is directed, what motivates you. I think of it as “fight, flight, or f#<!.” Mars feels great in the mutable fire sign of Sag, especially after all these months spent in deep, dark, repressive, watery Scorpio. Sag has to do with freedom and following your higher truth, philosophies and ideals, what is outside our borders, and the lifelong search for knowledge. Sag always wants the most life had to offer, and doesn’t like being fenced in. This works out great for Mars, who just mostly does what he wants anyway.

This energy is a lot of fun! We’ll feel great as the month is starting, like we’re finally gaining some momentum. Things that are novel and adventurous will have a fresh pull on our attention, and we’ll go after our freedom with enthusiasm and excitement. This fire might have us feeling full of energy, we might seek different kinds of physical and mental challenges, and even be a bit more competitive. Our optimism might have a lot of ideas flying around, like we can do ANYTHING. The follow thru might be harder to come by because we might keep being swept away by all the fun we’re having. However, this Mars fire also ignites Sag’s heightened principles, and we might be unwavering if something crosses our sense of ethics. This is awesome, and it is needed. I think the idea is to honor that others are also seeking their higher truth, and maybe use the mutable quality of Sag to reach understanding when dealing with conflicts at this time.

We will feel a need for freedom while Mars passes through Sag, whether it’s a vacation or just needing to set our own schedules. We’ll want to see what’s out there, and won’t feel pleased to be overly obligated. Our creative drives will be strong, and we’ll want to DO more than TALK (Mercury Retrograde at the beginning of Sep will test this a LOT). We might be travelling or somehow in new environments, being introduced to new ways of thinking. A lot of ideas might be flying around at this time, and this is the energy to explore them.

So. The crazy stuff now. The official end of the Mars Retrograde period will be when he hits 8° Sag on 8/21. A lot of the issues we’ve been dealing with since he entered the shadow zone in February will be resolved or coming to a close. Good news, right! Well…

Saturn will be at 9° Sag at that time, and will conjunct, or merge, with Mars through the 26th. Saturn is the karmic debt overlord. He is always around to make sure we’ve learned our lessons and developed the structures we need to build in our lives. When we learn Saturn lessons, it pays off for us. When we don’t, we hate it. Saturn was considered a malefic in classical astrology. We know he’s there to help us now, but no one doesn’t think he’s a hard ass. He’s been in Sag since last year, testing our ideas about foreign countries and the way we approach justice and truth philosophically (sound familiar?). The blending of these two forces, right as Mars is exiting the shadow zone, will test us in a dramatic way on all the lessons we’ve been learning since February. Does that way of thinking really work for me? Are these steps I’m taking toward my own higher truth and independence really working for my life? Are the ways I’m exerting my energy toward and thinking about the world at large in line with the Universe (Saturn square Neptune influence-is this Idea I have in line with the Spirit?)?

It’ll feel pretty jarring after how easily the beginning of the month flows. Suddenly there’s a quiz on what we thought we were wrapping up! It won’t be fun. The pressure will be on, and we’ll want to fly off to get away from it all. But Saturn will keep restricting our will, we will have to face our choices and what we’ve been working through.

Because Sagittarius has to deal with foreign countries, I’m honestly worried about the conjunction of these planets here because I feel like the propensity for violence is great during this time. Be very careful, bring peace with you wherever you are. Tensions will be high.

However! Two shorter periods during this time will be a help to us. Mars will be trine the moon on August 30, right as Mercury Rx starts, so I think we’ll be feeling good and able to help others feel the warmth right as the wackiness begins. The other beneficial moon day is September 10, when it conjuncts Mars in Sag. We’ll really feel in tune that day, able to see from an elevated perspective.

Also, from 9/15-9/20, Mars trines Uranus in Mars’ home sign of Aries. We’ll be zapped with inspiration during this time. We’ll have sudden insights and coming out of Mercury Rx, we’ll feel a drive to make constructive changes. Especially after the Saturn conjunction, this energy will be very welcome. As Mars moves out of the sign of Sag we’ll look back on this year and realize all the stuff that’s happened and all the things we’ve been thinking about. We should be in higher alignment and having a clearer vision of how to shape the future.

Hope this time treats you well! Use that warrior spirit wisely:)

Cheers,

Will

New Moon in Leo and Year One: Check

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for joining me on this journey over the past year since I started doing readings:) So happy to be at the Golden Braid in SLC, can’t wait to see what happens next!

Here’s a video of me talking about the Leo New Moon!

EDITS: It’s not Venus and Mars conjunct, it’s Venus and MERCURY. So scrap what I said, this time will be sensual rather than overtly sexual. We will want to communicate in a detailed way the beautiful things we are attracting in terms of creativity and recreation. Then with the trine to Uranus in Aries, that energy is electrified and we’re able to tap into innovation, the future almost reaches out through creative endeavors. We will want to gracefully speak on the insights and inspirations we are having.

Venus and Mercury are actually square Mars, but as Mars moves out of Scorpio, I think the conversation with Uranus will help us through any tensions that might arise. We might feel some friction, but we’ll have another kind of understanding that will lead the way.

Something I also forgot to mention is that there are no air signs activated, like the last full moon. Air energy is mental and intellectual and has everything to do with communication. Keeping the windows open to let some fresh air in will be needed. Like, it’s great to have other perspectives, but I think that the kinds of fires being lit and fueled right now go beyond words. This lunation, for me, is about experiencing rather than analyzing, doing rather than planning, feeling rather than thinking. There are things that are intuitive, and this time is very personal. Trust your inner voice and follow your creative spark. Talk less, do more.

Again, thank you profusely for your support! Like my page on FB, subscribe to my YouTube channel, and check us out at goldenbraidbooks.com!

Setting forward an intention as I go into my second year, I’m thinking about the end of Jupiter in Virgo transit: working on the details and generating more content, more consistently. Stay tuned for planetary transit updates, natal chart position breakdowns, and the continuation of the houses and moon cycle discussions. If there’s anything in particular you’d be interested in hearing about, let me know in the comments or on FB. Excited to move forward!

Cheers,

Will

New Moon in Aries, Full Moon in Scorpio: #mars

The new moon on 16° Aries was April 7, real early in the am. I happened to wake up and wonder when it would be, and when I looked it up, it was happening right then. It was before 6 am. Anyway.

New moons are when the moon is not reflecting the sun’s light, and they are considered to be in the same sign. It’s a time to set new goals because it’s a new cycle of energy. Some astrologers say it’s when we’re most primal because our inner world/emotions/reactions (moon) has not yet been illuminated by our consciousness/awareness/ego (sun). I like to think of it like natural progressions, cycles of regeneration where the energy is expressed in the houses of the chart. For instance, this new moon happened in my 1st House, so it’s a new cycle of awareness in terms of my own independent physical energy, presence and vitality.

The new moon in Aries is about new beginnings. Aries is the first sign, and in western/tropical zodiac always begins on the first day of spring. This is the energy that pushes a little seed to sprout, the spark of divine fire (Aries’ element) that gives life to us all. So the focus through this moon cycle is very much about the “I Am” (Aries’ motto). It’s a new phase of personal energy. Depending on where this lands in your chart, for example, if this was in your 8th house, you might be thinking about how your personal energy meshes with those closest to you, how do you exert your will in close, bonded relationships? If it’s in your 6th, you might be wondering if your job is feeling right, or maybe that you need to take care of your health and diet in a different way.

This isn’t the kind of new beginning that feels like the end of something else. This new moon in Aries is all about you, and things that are exciting and new for you. It’s definitely very close to Uranus who has been camped out there for a couple years, and will be there for awhile. Uranus is the Awakener, so these new impulses have am electric quality. They are sudden and epiphany-ish. It’s not comfy-cozy. If you know who you are and what you’re fighting for-all Aries stuff-then you might have a jolt of lightning behind your actions, things might spring up quickly. You might be able to advance your ideas to the future. If you are not sure who you are or where you are headed, I think Uranus might have some surprises for you. You gonna get WOKE THE F#^! UP. Uranus won’t let you stay in a place that’s not working for you, so you might be busting out of other people’s ideas of who you are. Go with it, man.

Another thing I’m thinking about with this Aries new moon is that Mars is about to go retrograde. Mars is the ruling planet of Aries, so they stay connected. Mars in the chart represents fight, flight or f#^!, it’s how we express aggression and lust and how we go get what we want. I think this new moon cycle for us all is about realigning with the true “I Am.” We might have a plethora of new ideas, but with Mars slowing down and going back, we might feel stifled or thwarted when we try to direct action toward an intention. This will force a careful reflection of what we really want and HOW we go about getting it. I’m also wondering if everyone will feel like everyone else is stepping on each other’s toes.

So that’s neat. A new impulse of electric energy. Who is “I Am”?

Then the other side of this moon cycle is the full moon in Scorpio. This is kinda crazy because both Aries and Scorpio are traditionally ruled by Mars, but it’s different kinds of expression. Aries will get hot-headed in your face and be very outwardly open about things while Scorpio will be less reactive while plotting revenge years down the line. Different sides of Mars. In more recent times, Pluto has been given co-rulership of Scorpio, which has to do with regeneration, long-term decay and regrowth, and the merging of different entities into one. Both signs are about new beginnings, but Scorpio must pass through death to be reborn. And unlike Aries, which is all about “me,” Scorpio is all about “us.”

The full moon in Scorpio happens April 22, and I believe it’s 2°. The full moon is when our inner world is fully conscious of itself, it’s when the light of the sun has shone its stuff into our subconscious. If you took care to plant seeds during the new moon, this is the time those seeds with bear fruit. So the new moon, lay low. Full moon, take charge.

The full moon in Scorpio takes the impulses from the Aries new moon and adds a twist: it’s going to be through those closest to you that you will be able to get what you want for yourself. This is making me ask if your goals are enmeshed with your dearest ones, if those closest to you will help you and vice versa. Scorpio is like Hades and Persephone, so this is like some intense soul-bonding shit. It’s going to be through the actions of others that your goals come to be.

Mars will be retro at that point, so you might also be experiencing a bit of a struggle with your close ones. You both might be at a loss how to have your own agenda within this union where what you share is at the forefront.

This is all I can think of at the moment, and I better post this before my phone deletes everything! Ha.

New Moon in Virgo and Partial Solar Eclipse

Hey everyone!

Big things happening this weekend with the New Moon in Virgo, as well as a partial Solar Eclipse.  This takes place at 12.41am on Sunday, Mountain Standard Time.  I made a video describing these energies, and how they flow from last month here:

Other details pertinent to this transit include the opposition to Chiron at 19° Pisces, which will activate an opportunity for healing.  Chiron is an asteroid/planetoid between Jupiter and Saturn, symbolizing the bridge between past and present, between the waking world and the underworld.  He’s the wounded healer, representing where we have been hurt or where we are incomplete, and conversely, where we can heal others and in doing so, become whole.  In Pisces, this has to do with our subconscious.  The deepest parts of our minds, our connection to the other side, the spiritual energies of the universe, the place where we wash away and become one with creation, is highlighted during this New Moon and partial Solar Eclipse.  We have the opportunity to heal these hurts in our souls, or we run the risk of becoming paralyzed by them and allowing them to take over.  Oppositions are a fine-tuned balance or a tug of war.  Will you hold on to past hurts, or will you become empowered by them?  With Saturn at the last degree of Scorpio (shared values, regeneration, cycles), I would encourage all of us to let go and release these hurts.  This will create the balance we need to integrate Chiron’s healing energy into this new phase of our lives.  Because this Solar Eclipse is opening a portal to new world of our own devising, don’t limit your power during this time. What you feel can be made manifest.

While we have this healing going on, we will need to be aware of Uranus over there at 19° Aries.  This creates what’s called a quincunx, an aspect of 150 degrees to the New Moon.  This is at best…unpredictable.  With Uranus’ M.O. of breaking out and rebelling against the status quo, electrically charging whatever he touches, this New Moon and partial Solar Eclipse can have explosive results.  This could mean you are encountering new ideas or situations that you have no basis of experience with, it could challenge your ideas about who you are.  It’s possible that in delving into the psyche of Chiron/Pisces, you find things that don’t fit with how you now see the world or even yourself. That’s OK! The only constant is change.  And this can quite possibly be a violent change.  Aries is warlike, almost childishly, innocently selfish and with Uranus there supercharging our self-interest, we could be seeing major, jolting changes in the areas of our lives where these things land in our chart.  Chiron/Pisces blends into the next sign of Uranus/Aries, so while these changes might seem incongruent or unexpected, the New Moon/Eclipse/Virgo energies will help actualize and physicalize and realize – in the waking world – the birth of the new energies within you.

Go for it!  Blow stuff up!  Leave it behind you!

A new world is waiting for you.

Cheers,

Will
