Venus Retrograde in Capricorn 12/19/21-1/29/22

Yo yo yo,

Here’s the shorthand dates for Venus Retrograde In Capricorn:

  • 11/18 – Enter Shadow Zone at 11° Capricorn
  • 12/19 – Station Retrograde at 26° Capricorn, 3.36am MST
  • 1/29 – Station Direct at 11° Capricorn, 1.46am MST
  • 3/2 – Exit Shadow Zone at 26° Capricorn

The glyph of Venus (♀️) shows the needs of the soul or sphere elevated above material needs or the cross. When a retrograde occurs, material or environmental needs are put above soul impulses. Venus retrograde in the sign of Capricorn invites us to evaluate our big picture. What is the overall plan, has it changed? Is our heart still in the same place? Changes to jobs, residence, and life paths will be on the forefront of everyone’s minds. Who am I now to the world? What does the world need from me, and am I willing to oblige? Reputations will be guarded with tooth and nail, ambitions abandoned. Like Mercury Retrograde in Libra this last fall, this transit will be a rough one. Lots of focus on structure, less so on nurturing.

Also with the holidays and supply chain, I’m predicting more strikes and shortages. Get ready now for a harsh winter. Capricorn is traditional and conservative, hard work is the emphasis.

New Moon in Gemini 5/25

Hey hey,

So the new moon was just a little while ago at 12.44pm MST, and for us in SLC it was directly on the Midheaven or directly overhead (giving public/10th House importance to the moon energy).

New moon is the time to rest and recharge, to plant seeds and make plans. In the air sign of Gemini, the focus is on communication. We have to think about new ways of expressing ideas. Words used unconsciously during this time will become a stumbling block later on, but since the moon is in its dark phase and not yet illuminated by the light of Sun-consciousness, we might do it impulsively. However, words used with clear intent now can be a bulldozer to clear that block as you go.

The ruler of New Moon Gemini is Mercury, which will be in the sign of Taurus thru June 6. This earth sign is all about creation. It’s about value, how we perceive it in relation to ourselves and our own possessions. Taurus is measured and methodical, and can seem almost languid compared to other, more high energy signs. Nevertheless, they always Tortoise and the Hare everybody by winning it with their steady approach. These qualities will be how communication flows during this moon cycle. Sometimes agonizingly slow and stubborn, but always focused on what is growing and the potential for new life.

We might also be gathering a lot of idea maps now, with all the ideas swirling around, he said, switching metaphors abruptly. The next full moon is in Sagittarius and is all about following your own path to Truth. Now would be the time to talk it out, make sure you really believe what you think you’re saying. You might have to back up your ideas later.

Some interesting things about this new moon is first, that it’s square to Neptune in Pisces. I think during this moon cycle, we will be wont to seek a definition rather than let a thing remain implied. Words will be necessary, even when it feels like trying to hold water in your hands. We won’t feel comfortable with blurring edges, we’ll tend to crave boundaries.

Second, there are two relatively short-lived yet major oppositions happening, sparked off by the new moon vibezzz. The first of which is on the Venus-Aries/Jupiter-Libra axis, which has been getting a lot of attention this year. Aries is the Self-so Venus there is getting us to really love our own dayum self and to go get ours, while Libra is the Other-so Jupiter there is expanding our awareness of our relationships. This opposition can be tough EVEN IF it’s both of the generally ‘benefic’ planets, showering blessings. Are we letting other people’s needs outweigh our own? Are we selfishly indulging our own interests and not considering the needs of others at all? This opposition during New Moon Gemini creates an awareness of these themes through crisis, or a situation that seems to pull you in different directions.

The other opposition is that of the malefic’ planets of Mars-Gemini and Saturn-Sagittarius. Mars is drive in the realm of communication (it’s very likely, and for me definitely true that our mouths have been RUNNING OFF). Other people are necessary for true communication to happen, yet Saturn’s over there grounding our asses in the sign of higher learning and personal truth. There’s a pull between speaking your truth and following your truth. Maybe you need to say some things on your path to Truth but you find it hard. Time to spit ’em out, because by the time the full moon happens you might not have as many options about it.

Lots of interesting stuff always happening in the sky. The long-standing T-square has eased off, so that a bit of a relief.

Thanks for reading! If you’d like to hear more about a particular topic, please use New Moon Gemini to lmk, ok?

Cheers,

Will

Venus in Aries, Retrograde to Pisces thru 4/15

Quick overview/Dates:

  • March 4-Venus stations Retrograde at 13 degrees of Aries, 2.09am MST
  • April 2-Venus re-enters the sign of Pisces, 5.25pm MST
  • April 15-Venus stations direct at 26 degrees of Pisces, 3.18am MST
  • April 28-Venus re-enters Aries, 6.13am MST
  • May 20-Venus exits retrograde shadow zone at 14 degrees Aries

Hi y’all,

Venus went retrograde earlier this week in the sign of Aries. Venus is the ruler of love and and attraction and affection, aesthetics and beauty, our individual feminine nature, and how we experience pleasure. Venus also shows us how we relate to each other, how we react within relationships because it also rules the sign of Libra. Aries is the portion of the zodiac associated with personal identity, it’s motto is “I Am.” The first sign of the zodiac, it is the cardinal (initiative) fire (spirit) that operates as the Masculine Principle. Aries wants what it wants, when it wants it. It’s the fire that opens the seed up and pushes the roots down and the leaves up. The first day of Aries is the first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere.

While in Aries, Venus loves her independence. In this sign, we want what we want. And not only that, but that wanting becomes a part of our personal identity during this time. Folks with this placement in their natal charts (or Venus in the 1st House) know that it can cause us to be very into ourselves…like, there are other people in the world, you know? However, as a benefic in the chart, Venus provides grace and charm. So we might be self-obsessed at the moment, but at least we’re charismatic and fun to be around, right?

Because they embody very different energies, Venus is considered in her ‘detriment’ in Aries. This means her power is diminished, or that she isn’t quite up to full strength (as opposed to her being exalted in the previous sign of Pisces-pin in that). Aries is ‘what I want,’ and Venus kind of loses her relational vibes here. She’s all about pleasures and comfort, and Aries is a questing knight always on the move. She wants to connect with others and Aries has a one-track mind on their next conquest.

So! When a planet goes retrograde, it seems to slow down and back up in the sky. It doesn’t really do that, it’s just an illusion created by that planet’s orbit in relation to our own-but, interestingly it means that that planet is closer to Earth than other times. Venus also has a very interesting trajectory, it hits the same five points in the zodiac within a couple of degrees. Her full cycle takes about eight years, and her path describes a giant pentagram in the sky. The last time she went retrograde at this position was the spring of 2009.

The ancient peoples of the world also recognized another interesting feature of Venus’ retrograde motion. Most of the time she appears in the evening sky on the Western horizon, but as she goes retro she seems to set in the west. As she approaches her conjunction with the Sun, she disappears below the west for a week or two. Then she starts showing up in the morning for a few weeks, on the Eastern horizon with the sunrise! This is what the ancients called “The Morning Star”-you might have heard of her elsewhere by that name. This is Venus in her warrior armor. She’s usually the demure and coquettish vision we think of standing in a clamshell. As the morning star, she is wrathful and capable of defeating her husband (Aries, get it?) in battle. It’s a side of Venus we don’t really think about a lot, but it happens about every two years. (Side bar. Last time she went retro in summer 2015, spending four months in Leo-the sign of the heart-we got that old marriage equality in the US. Moon was in Libra, sign of relationships and because of its Scales totem, Justice.)

JohnPratt.com

(Got this image from johnpratt.com via Google Search-This also shows some descriptions of what Venus’ phases mean.)

To synthesize all that, this Venus Retrograde is a journey of self-love! Any retrograde motion brings the energy of the planet inward (maybe because the planet is closer, we feel it more?). It makes us internalize the energy-and when that energy has to do with relating to others, we ask how we are a part of that equation. Retrogrades are a time to reconsider, reevaluate, reexamine. So the questions I think of about this time are things like, Am I doing what makes me happy and brings me pleasure? Am I who I want to be and am I becoming who I want to be? Am I standing in my own truth and moving in the direction of the things I want?

If we aren’t happy with the answers to those questions, the quality of this time will motivate us to make the changes necessary. If we are happy with those answers, I think we’ll experience small, quiet affirmations.

Additionally, because Venus has to do with love and relating, during her retrograde motion we might encounter people from our past. These encounters will put a spotlight on how these relationships have impacted us. We’ll have a comparison to gauge our growth and determine whether these relationships are or aren’t still a part of our identity (Aries).

And last but not least, Venus will re-enter the sign of Pisces as part of this retrograde! Venus is exalted in this sign, because she can connect to the Universal Mojo without the hindrance of ego that she experiences in Aries. I think of this like a spiritual baptism (is there any other kind, lol). On this journey of self-love and care, Venus dips back into the waters of Pisces. This identity crisis goes into the subconscious, is refreshed and continues on with new vigor. This time is a great opportunity to check that our values and actions are in alignment. Is my identity in line with Universal Will? Am I creating the kind of love I want to experience? How is my nature intrinsically connected to All Of Creation?

This is an exciting time! Because of this long-standing T-square (Jupiter in Libra, Pluto in Capricorn, Uranus in later degrees of Aries), there has been a lot of external pressures on all of us. This time is demanding that we check in with ourselves right now. We can’t be a good balance to our partners if we are not in balance ourselves. We can’t have good friends if we can’t be good friends. We can’t effect change in the world at large if we aren’t sure of our own intentions. This time is inviting us to look at ourselves and lovingly correct what is not in alignment.

Thanks so much for reading! Let me know what you think, and how your retrograde is going.

Cheers,

Will

P.S. Used my ephemeris for the dates, probably quoted SEXTROLOGY by Starsky and Cox, the Buddha Board at Golden Braid Books for my main image, and cited the sources for the images above.

Full Moon in Aries 10/15

Hi everyone,

Been a bit distracted from looking up lately, but here’s a little post about the upcoming full moon.

The full moon is a time to take action. The moon is fully illuminated by the sun, without being in the earth’s shadow. This represents the subconscious/intuitive/shadow side of our nature being illuminated by consciousness. We know what intentions have been set under the dark new moon, and are able to take conscious action.

The new moon at the end of September happened in the sign of Libra (it was called a black moon because it was the second new moon in that month). The sun and moon are considered to be at the same place, or conjunct, at the new moon. This joining of the masculine and feminine, or the conscious and unconscious, gives birth to a new impulse of energy that grows through the full moon and wanes by the next new moon. In the sign of Libra, this moon cycle culminating with this Full Moon in Aries has to do with relationships, balance, and aesthetics.

The new moon is the time to recharge your batteries, make plans and figure out what you want to do. The full moon is the time to do all that stuff, because we have the conscious power to make it happen. If the new moon in Libra puts new focus on relationships, the full moon in Aries complements that energy by placing a conscious focus on the Self. Dance metaphor: you can’t find balance with your partner (Libra) if you don’t know what your own steps are (Aries). This focus on the self might feel empowering, and it might make some folks uncomfortable. I’d expect some personality conflicts since people will be very sure of what their own energy is and is not. The fiery passion of Aries might fuel conflicts that might not have happened otherwise, but it also might cause things that have been blocked to bust out. This full moon is one o’ those Supermoons, because the earth and the moon are closest at this time of year. Extra gravity pulling on your gravitrons or whatnot.

I don’t think everyone will be running around trying to fight, but it wouldn’t surprise me in the least. I think people will feel very motivated by personal goals at this time, trying to wrap up lose ends by the end of the month. It can be inspiring to be filled up with all that fire energy!

Looking at the chart for today, Mars is exalted in Capricorn, conjuncting Pluto. This is excellent for making long-term plans and actually following through. This energy has the drive to build not only a castle, but an empire. The crazy thing about it is the T-square it makes with the Sun in Libra and Uranus in Aries. The Sun in Libra is making us aware of our partnerships as they evolve through this Libra Moon Cycle, and Uranus in Aries is revolutionizing our sense of self which we will be especially aware of during the full moon. Uranus electrifies whatever it touches, so the tension of this pull between the self and partnerships against long-terms goals and plans has an urgent, energized feeling. The remedy for a T-square is the energy that is missing, which in this case is Cancer. Which means that we’re not using our feeling self enough during this time. We’re missing the watery flow of emotions, so some empathy can go a long way right now.

Venus in Scorpio is still making everything all erotic and shit. Go get em.

Saturn in Sag is sure making the world an interesting place, no?

That’s ask I got for now. Thanks for following:)

Cheers,

Will

Jupiter in Libra til next September

—I drew that masterpiece with Jupiter in Libra artistic powers! 🙂

Jupiter is the planet of expansion and luck, called the Great Benefic. Related to philosophy and the pursuit of knowledge, Jupiter also carries with it a sense of justice. One of the generational planets, it spends about a year in each sign, affecting you by relation to other planets in your chart. Otherwise, it impacts those born around the same year as you collectively. Where it lands in your birth chart will show where you want to grow in this life, and can also indicate where you will receive opportunities and help.

Libra is the cardinal air sign, the first of the southern hemisphere (the top of the chart). The first six signs are related to personal development, and Libra is where we begin to consider others. Its totem is the only inanimate object of the zodiac, the Scales. Libra seeks to find balance-within and without. They are tactful peacekeepers on a high vibe and shameless shit-stirrers on the low, disrupting natural balances. They can be indecisive, not knowing the best course of action because they can get carried away in everyone else’s viewpoint. Being ruled by Venus, Libra’s external locus gives much importance to aesthetics. Creative energies are cultivated in earlier signs, but artistic means and expression really take off in the sign of Libra. This sign is like the light, shining on the surface of all things, and what is revealed and experienced in that seeing. This can create a form-over-function mentality in a Libra-heavy chart, as deeper probing and understanding, the real digging into dark, scary corners, are handled by the following sign of Scorpio.

Jupiter entered Libra last Friday and will be in the sign until September 11 of next year. This means that the qualities of Libra will experience expansion and growth over the next year, and the areas of your chart that Libra flows through is where you can expect to see those qualities blossom. We’ve been working on ourselves really hard the last six years under the supportive guidance of Jupiter thru Aries to Virgo. Now our relationships are going to benefit from that same nourishment. We might also experience a more profound connection to the arts and creative expression. This next year makes the Venus-ruled light of Libra shine like nothing else, and we will feel inclined to share the bounty of these blessings with the people in our life. We will be compelled to find the MOST BALANCE.

So this isn’t about people we see every day on our commute or at work, nor is it about the networks of friends or social groups with which we connect. This year is all about the one-on-one relationships in our lives. Libra is the natural ruler of the 7th house: The Other or what I Am Not, and Partnerships. Interestingly, the 7th is also the house of Open Enemies. This next year we will find our focus on trying to balance the people in our lives. This goes two ways, because the people in our lives will also be focusing on trying to balance with us. This is a great time to work on those relationships because both you and your partner will endeavor to come from a place of understanding. During this next year, we might find people helping us for no apparent reason and we might find that we can bring a special kind of medicine to others as well. The last time Jupiter was in Libra, I was in school and made friends and connections that I still keep in touch with to this day. We might find a bunch of new people coming into our life, and that’s awesome! We will feel able to balance what they bring to the table, and they will want to do the same. Conversely, if you have an epic beef, this year might help you confront those crazies and get everything out in the open. Fortunately, under Jupiter we will feel less inclined to go there (at least until he goes thru Scorpio:). You might be seeing the people in your life in a new light, and they will be seeing and assessing you, too. The focus on the balance elements of Libra are a guide here. Hopefully, we really spend this time getting in tune with each other.

Jupiter in Libra will draw awareness to the pleasure derived in beautiful things. Our sense of aesthetics will be very heightened during this time. We’ll have a renewed appreciation for storytelling, visual and performing arts, music, anything that appeals to the senses. Our desire to share things we might have created in such an endeavor will be greater as well. This is a perfect year to learn that guitar you always wanted to get into, to try that painting class you were nervous about, or to get into writing that next literary classic (like this blog right here:). You’ll have no shortage of inspiration while Jupiter is in this sign. The problem with this might be that old Libra indecision, doubting your creative impulses. Don’t! Just grow and create and allow Jupiter to do his magic. Or, we might feel like what we created isn’t as good as we imagined, our aesthetics might be so sharp now that we can’t live up to the vision in our heads. Again, Jupiter is trying to get us to grow, and sometimes that expansion is painful. But the rose couldn’t bloom if it stayed in its bud, you know? Trust the growth process and don’t be afraid to share, or to ask for help! This is such a brilliant placement for artists and creative-types. If that’s not you, it’s amazing still to get new ideas flowing. Libra is an air sign, having to do with mental energies and intellect. The ideas will be fairly bursting to get out during this time. Trust them and talk it out! You’ll never be better supported by others to bring those visions to life than this year. And the visions you have are so lovely. Share them.

Another thing I’m thinking about with this transit, is that because everyone experiencing a new blooming in their relationships, and those developments being expressed artistically all over, we will be inclined to share. A lot. We will be sharing all over the damn place. A lot of times with this sharing we will encounter ideas that don’t jive with us, but we will be in a place to really understand what seemed foreign to us before. And because Jupiter is strongly tied to ideas of social justice and equality, in this sign it will give a lot of people a lot of perspectives that they hadn’t stepped into and tried on before. I had a friend recently post about “social justice fatigue” on the fb, and I have to say we’re only at the beginning. This next year will highlight these kinds of issues, and I think a lot of the growth of this transit comes from how much talking we’re all going to be doing over the next year. We will all be seeing each other in a new light. It is my hope that our online and real life encounters over the next year will utilize this Libra Jupiter energy, and rather than fight to be right in these kinds of discussions we will truly hear what is being said to us and emerge with fresh ears to hear. Justice is a theme of this next year, and we will feel it personally and collectively. If it is unjust for any, it is unjust for all. This won’t be the year about people remaining silent and by default choosing the side of the oppressor. This is the year for us all to speak truth to power, for we truly have what is just and what is right on our minds. Bring it.

Overall, this transit will compel us to find balance and we will then find luck when do. Where this is located in your chart will indicate where you are seeking this balance. My friend and I were just talking as this begins in both of our sixth houses about work-life balance, and I just gotta soak up those lovely aesthetic vibes this morning! 😉

Go get em!

Cheers,

Will

P.s. There’s probably a bit of SEXTROLOGY by Starsky and cox in this here post.

P.p.s. used my ephemeris (and probably Shawn’s) to calculate some folks that are going to have a lot of growth this year, for some reason. Research nerd. Went back to the beginning of the last century, just in case there are centenarian readers out there.

Those who have Jupiter in Libra in their natal chart will be having a great time with their Jupiter Return! Only happens every 12 years. Expanding and blessing what are already your own magic powers:) Also coming back to the lessons Jupiter has to teach you from the time you were born. Those years are:

10/12/1909-11/12/1910

9/26/21-10/27/22

9/11/33-10/12/34

8/26/45-9/26/46 (Peace? Justice?)

12/14/56-2/19/57 and 8/8/57-1/14/58 and 3/21/58-9/8/58 (Jupiter’s normal retrograde cycle went over the cusp of other signs this time, and again in…)

11/16/68-3/31/69 and 7/16/69-12/17/69 and 5/1/70-8/16/70

9/22/80-11/28/81

10/11/92-11/10/93

9/26/04-10/27/05

If that’s you, we’ll done! You did it.

P.p.p.s. It is my warning now that any secrets, lies, indiscretions, etc. that you indulge in at this time WILL COME BACK TO YOU during the next year of Jupiter in Scorpio. The skeletons are all going to be dug out of the closet after this, so spend this buoyant year cleaning out that closet if you need to do so. The truth WILL come out, so trying to hide anything at this time will only dig you into a deeper hole. Snoochie boochies.

Venus in Virgo 8/6-8/31

Venus shifts into Virgo today through the end of the month. Venus is the goddess of love and attraction. She is called a benefic because she gives grace and ease through whatever sign she passes. It’s the feminine part of our nature, what is receptive. Venus loves beautiful surroundings and softens what she touches.

The sign of Virgo is a mutable sign, the second of the earth signs. She blends the qualities of Cancer and Leo, and this gives a great deal of discernment as the Mother and Father energies must make compromises. Virgo also relates to our health and habits, the way we deliberately (ooooor not) honor our self-care through diet, exercise and physical maintenance. Service also falls under the sign of Virgo, the way we work day to day, how we deal with co-workers, etc. Virgo is good with the hands, using them in work with a eye for detail that is lost on most signs.

During this transit, self-care is very important. We will have an awareness of our bodies and might take steps toward a new health and beauty regimen. We might also be feeling an ease of pressure in the workplace, like it’s easier to get things done, or the general mood lighter. Venus also blesses the pocketbook in the earth or work signs. We might notice gains because of the details we are attracting right now. Earning potential is increased. Usually tedious work might seem a little more manageable, again, even helpful or in some way beneficial. Though these things might flow we will feel very practical in spending, that Virgo discernment doesn’t let Venus therapy shop.

Venus in the sign who’s motto is “I analyze” means that a mental connection is absolutely necessary to reach our affections. If someone isn’t on your intellectual level, you might use that Virgo discrimination to be more choosy about with whom you share your time. Your emotions will be in tune with your thoughts, you’ll feel better when you can express the things you see.

The blending of these energies is very nuanced. Venus is in fall, or in her weakened state, in Virgo. Venus is receptive, Virgo is productive. Virgo’s exactness is foreign to Venus, the specificity of the energy isn’t as soft and dreamy as she is accustomed. During this month we might be really aware of tiny flaws, our eye might be distracted from the overall beauty by little things that we can’t overlook. This very morning, for instance, my awesome brother went to get me some coffee. When he came back, my first response wasn’t to thank him for his kind, loving service (also Venus in Virgo). My first reaction was to ask why it wasn’t all the way full, it seemed light. I went right for the little problem. We might have our eye on the imperfections while Venus’ aesthetic moves through the detailed sign of Virgo.

This transit also gives very high expectations about love and romance. If someone had this position in their birth chart, they might be extremely critical of partners, as Venus also shows how we interact with others. So this time might show us a lot of flaws, what are you going to focus that laser-beam-hawkeye vision on? The loving act of service or the slight flaw? During this time, the predilection is to express the latter. Now that you know, maybe you can focus on all the many good things, right?

At the end of the month, August 28, Venus joins Mercury and Jupiter at 27-28° Virgo. These three planets get along famously. Jupiter is the great benefic and Venus the lesser, he expands and gives luck and says YAAAAS, while she softens and nurtures and brings in what she needs. This expansion and attraction join forces with the intellect and expression to really blow up our work and wallets, blessing good health and harmony if we take advantage. It might be a really passive kind of energy that doesn’t do anything if we don’t activate it. There will be lots of talking, around work and the health of the body. Listen and say your peace, you’ll have researched your position ahead of time, anyway. This time will happen right after Mars passes over Saturn around the 23rd, so I think it will be a nice breath of fresh air from that madness.

So! Good, productive time if we can handle working with the details.

Thanks so much for checking out my blog!

Cheers,

Will

New Moon in Leo and Year One: Check

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for joining me on this journey over the past year since I started doing readings:) So happy to be at the Golden Braid in SLC, can’t wait to see what happens next!

Here’s a video of me talking about the Leo New Moon!

EDITS: It’s not Venus and Mars conjunct, it’s Venus and MERCURY. So scrap what I said, this time will be sensual rather than overtly sexual. We will want to communicate in a detailed way the beautiful things we are attracting in terms of creativity and recreation. Then with the trine to Uranus in Aries, that energy is electrified and we’re able to tap into innovation, the future almost reaches out through creative endeavors. We will want to gracefully speak on the insights and inspirations we are having.

Venus and Mercury are actually square Mars, but as Mars moves out of Scorpio, I think the conversation with Uranus will help us through any tensions that might arise. We might feel some friction, but we’ll have another kind of understanding that will lead the way.

Something I also forgot to mention is that there are no air signs activated, like the last full moon. Air energy is mental and intellectual and has everything to do with communication. Keeping the windows open to let some fresh air in will be needed. Like, it’s great to have other perspectives, but I think that the kinds of fires being lit and fueled right now go beyond words. This lunation, for me, is about experiencing rather than analyzing, doing rather than planning, feeling rather than thinking. There are things that are intuitive, and this time is very personal. Trust your inner voice and follow your creative spark. Talk less, do more.

Again, thank you profusely for your support! Like my page on FB, subscribe to my YouTube channel, and check us out at goldenbraidbooks.com!

Setting forward an intention as I go into my second year, I’m thinking about the end of Jupiter in Virgo transit: working on the details and generating more content, more consistently. Stay tuned for planetary transit updates, natal chart position breakdowns, and the continuation of the houses and moon cycle discussions. If there’s anything in particular you’d be interested in hearing about, let me know in the comments or on FB. Excited to move forward!

New Moon in Gemini

Hi there,

The new moon in Gemini happens this Saturday the 4th at 8:59 pm Mountain Standard Time. I may or may not have said Sunday in the video, so…my bad.

Decided to do a lil video update since this new moon is in Gemini.

Don’t think I got to it in the video, but also interesting rn is Mars Retrograde, currently in Scorpio. Retrogrades make energy closer, more inward because the planet itself is actually closer. Lots of internalized energy in terms of will and passion. This had been in Scorpio for awhile, was in free Sag for a bit but now we’re back. More skeletons in the dark Scorpio closet, maybe more things to let go of from the past. Issues in expressing will in close, bonded relationships; maybe this internalized Mars energy has you or your close partners acting in different ways? Dunno but in general, lots of scheming, especially in this chatty Gemini weather. All under a grand cross as well, so there are a lot of things coming to a boil right now. Keep an eye out.

I referenced ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ASTROLOGY by Nicholas Devore, THE NEW AMERICAN EPHEMERIS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY by Rique Pottenger based on Michelsen, and THE ONLY ASTROLOGY BOOK YOU’LL EVER NEED by Joanna Martine Woolfolk.

Personal Post – Venus Retrograde

PERSONAL POST: My own journey through Venus retrograde the last couple of weeks has been rocky, to say the least. She’s been in my home base of Leo all summer, where I’ve got a stellium (3 or more planets in a sign, or a house, but in this case, the sign of Leo), including Mercury conjunct Mars (thoughts, intellect and communication fused with aggression, drives and sexual passion) and Sun (ego, consciousness, core energy).

Still with me?

When she started her retrograde and descent to the underworld, or through the southern hemisphere where we can’t see her, she shifted from the mellow, lovey western evening star to the warrior maiden eastern morning star (pictured here, though her beauty and light is not done justice). She was in my own intercepted (blocked, passed over) Virgo in the 6th. Retrogrades of any planet ask for a second look, a revaluation of those energies in the areas of life or houses where the retrograde falls. So my sense of Venus, my own worth and value and attraction, what I bring into me, was in my work and daily habits house. I began to experience a deep disquiet about how I was spending my time in my work, how non-valued I felt.

So I changed it. As she backed up into my 5th house of heart, creativity and passions, I decided to abandon the elements of my work that weren’t making me feel valued, weren’t adding to my happiness. I decided to follow my own heart.

The pressure Venus put on me is a large part of why I developed this website, and have decided to offer my services as an astrologer. Now she’s sitting right next to Mars in the sky (a powerfully sexy, sensual time, not without its own tensions), and right over my natal (birth) Mercury/Mars combo. So this is the perfect time for me to tell everyone about it! In fact, I feel almost driven to do so. See this long ass post? Ha!

How has Venus affected you? Please please share below!

If you aren’t sure where she falls in your chart, there are a number of places to find out – I like astro.com. But I could also read your chart and we could discuss where this happens in your life!
